It is a disator MGM.

The secret shopper thing was easy. Take one picture, ask for a couple comics at the desk and fill out a survey.

I'm still waiting for the pay period (they only do it once a month) to see if I actually get paid.

What are you doing these days for money? Turning tricks? ;)

Also, have you been to Ottawacon before? I've got a crummy MCMExpo London coming up soon.

I haven't.
But I booked one of the guests myself!
And I might be a media handler!

I only pick up my books every couple of months too, so I am wlays behind the new issue, which makes it hard to review. Like if you read trades.

I was at Ottawa Comic Con this weekend.

I was also not drunk, just exhausted on the phone.

I did hang out with Steve Niles, Ben Templeamith and Yannick Paquette while they got atoned though.

I'll try and post more about it in a couple days when I have my laptop.

Billion Anderson and Nathan fillion are both awesome.

Manu Bennet is fucking awesome though. Go gay for him and love it level of awesome.

The miracle man one was done through am aqquantince who got 15 various books done.

Every time I think of Manu Bennett, the first image that pops into my head is his opening scene in Spartacus when he walks into the slave dens in all his natural glory

Ah yes, Ottawa Con. Were Lena thingey and Peter Dinklage there as well, because there's a photo of them two with a couple of fans at a photo session and Daryl from TWD is in the background photobombing it.

There's a company in the UK that offers a CGC service, seemingly as it's main source of income.

I went down to Ottawa knowing I would be helping at the show, but not entirely sure what I would be doing.

I went down on the Thursday night after checking into my hotel, which was literally across the parking lot and the road from the hotel. 5 minutes from hotel door to con, it was great. Except there was nothing else in the area closer than 5 minutes by car.

I helped a friend set-up and walk around the con on Thursday and got the feeling for the show. It was the smallest show I have been to in a long while. After setting up for a few hours I went out with the friends I helped set-up.

Friday morning I went around 10am, the time the show managers wanted me there to help out. We spoke with Gary, a talent manager and he asked for extra help with Gillian Anderson for Saturday & Sunday when she was appearing, so I was doing that.

Friday I ended up working admission for a couple hours, since they needed an extra body who was not a volunteer. Then I head off to media guests to help organize the line-ups.

After all that was done I started doing my stuff! Wee.
I went behind the curtains at autographing got to meet James Marsters, someone I had been trying to meet for 3 years. He was awesome.
I went down to artist alley spoke with the artists, and arranged for the Templesmith & Bradshaw sketch.
The next fun thing to happen was the end of the day.
I was helping out with autographing and Manu Bennet needed someone to walk him around the show, and I was available.

I walked him around for 40 minutes while he shopped for Deathstroke comics since he had never read any, and needed reference material. I took him to a dealer friend where he bought the first appearance, and entire deathstroke run from him. It was pretty cool.

That night I went back to the hotel and had dinner with the executive team of the con, maybe 7 people.
After we had finished eating Manu Bennet sat down across from me and we all started talking. I got to shoot the shit with him for an hour or two, it was awesome. He is a fantastic guy. That rounds out Friday.

Good god this is taking a while. I want to move to point form

- Saturday/Sunday was Gillian Anderson signings. She was awesome, and very nice. Very busy too.
- Nathan Fillion is awesome, extremely nice man and extremely kind to everyone.
Manu Bennet came around to meet George Perez and Mike GRell. I got George to Sketch Manu a Deathstroke headshot, which was very cool.
I am also a big Michael Shanks fan (Stargate) and I went outside for some fresh air and he was out there. I got the chance to talk with him for 10 or 15 minutes and he was a great guy, it made me very happy.
James Marsters kept taking naps on the couch, it was awesome.
Nicholas Brendan told an awful story about a time he shit himself.
I also got to introduce Chris Claremont to Nathan Fillion, which were a very geeky fan boy moment and a lot of fun.

Steve Niles, Templesmith, Yannick Paquette and a few other comic guests were outside the hotel Saturday night smokeing a combination of cigs, cigars and pot. It was funny. Steve was rolling a joint in the hotel lobby.

Nathan Fillion, James Marsters, and especially Michael Shanks and Manu Bennet are all guys I loved on their shows, and was very happy when they turned out to be nicer than I could have ever hoped.
Those were the highlights; I may try and extrapolate later.

Great show, and very well organized, especially for a second year show.

The pictures are on Facebook!

(Also, working with the media guests are catered, fantastic!)
