Finished my new comic book room, so re-posting this from another forum for you guys!

Just pretty much finished my new comic room.

I'm still waiting for a few sketches, comics, and statues to arrive to finish it off, but you get the idea. I also need to pick up some more display easels.

I have a sketch from David Lapham coming for that empty picture frame. A couple statues and a signed and sketched MM 15 for the display case, a big 17x11 sketch for above my desk.

I'm also going to try and get a couple sketch cover of Magneto and Professor X for above the file cabinet. The chess set on top of it is the set used in X2. I thought it would be neat to have sketches there.

I painted the basement and file cabinet to brighten things up a bit. The legal cabinets are awesome, by the way. Thanks from everyone who helped with that.

There are 0 pictures of my girlfriend in this room.
However, there are
4 of Arn
3 of Farhan
3 of Andy
2 of Mitch and Natascha

And 4 other celebrities.

Why are there less pics of me and Natascha than of Arnaud? That's just plain wrong.

Also, what does Krista say about there being no picture of her there?

Because Arn was in NYCC for 3 years, not just 1. Maybe we can even that out?

There is a sword because that was what I got instead of a medal for taking first place in a Muay Thai tourament.

Your comic book room is great. Especially love the display case for your UXM #1 beneath the miracle man. How long did it take you to set it all up?

Are you going to hang up your sword on the wall above your desk between the Batman sketch and the red framed sketch (can't tell who that is)?

I'll leave it there. The sword, and everything else in that little corner is all all my Muay Thai accomplishments, and the sword was a tourament win.

You should hang the sword on the wall above the bookshelf it's already resting against, I think it would look nice that way. Right now it looks like it was just left there for a second, as if it doesn't fit the rest of the things in the room.

I was about to say something about the roof but then you mentioned the exceptionnal number of pictures featuring myself and I thought "Forget it, this room is complete".

Seriously, this is awesome. So the file cabinet is where you store your comics, now? How do they fit in there? Looks like you need to store them horizontally, no?

No, vertically. It's a legal size cabinet, each drawer holds 400-500 comics.

I'll take some picture later.

It's also a basement in a rental, so I'm sure not finishing the roof.

Yeah, I'd love to see some close-up on the cabinet file. Sounds like a good way to store the comics. Was it expensive to buy?

I bought it used for fifteen bucks and spray painted it.

My paint job was not good, but I love the cabinet.

I had to make dividers for the middle though.

I'll get pics tonight.

It's a standard LEGAl size filing cabinet.
Each drawer holds approx 400-500 comics.

I made dividers using foam boards from Micheals art's and crafts. I also used the foam boards to make a type of book end. These are necessary, otherwise the books just slide into each other.

The full drawers can pull out easily without tipping over. However, defiantly fill it up bottom heaviest. I tested it before loading it up.

In this case, an old, used file cabinet works better. The older ones are generally sturdier and handle the weight better, since B&Bed comics are far heavier than standerd paper.

Also, make sure the comics can stand in it, I came across a couple cabinet that were 1/2 inch too short for comics.

The other nice plus side is it can lock, which I quite like.

Anything else you'd like to know?
I love this thing, way WAY better than boxes.

Thanks for the info, I'll look into it, see if something like that can be done here. Not sure if those type of cabinet were very common over here.

Brand new, the cabinets cost about $200. Superb job on finding a used one for $15! I'd love to find one at some point...

Kijiji, or office surplurs and gov'n surplus sale.

I got mine from an Alberta Government surplus sale, and now that I think of it, it was $10.

Keeps your eyes out.

Try googling for used office furniture or office closure sales.

I was, and thanks. I was trying to find stuff from his recent UXM run, which proved to be very hard to.
