Where are the Hunger Games comics?!? Shipping 4/4

No... not really.
We have had a ton of release signings lately in Calgary, which I get.
Fiona Staples for Saga, and RIlery Rossmo and Kurtis Weibe are local, and they have had a lot of image books lately.
But a party? I feel like they would be really depressing parties.

It's definitely awkward. But, it's also a way to allow retailers to sell a book early, which a lot would have been tempted to do anyway with Diamonds new shipping option of getting books on Tuesday instead of Wednesday.
It's similar to how they allowed retailers to sell the Death of Johnny Storm issue of Fantastic Four a day early because they knew that shops were likely to do it and it'd hopefully keep the news from being broken by the press.
But a release 'party' is a little different. Shops that picked a side got promo items aligned with their chosen side. Poster, buttons, post cards and so on. I guess it would've been a fun way to give those away, but not necessary. My guess is it was partially to allow retailers to sell it early and to gain publicity for the book. Release parties get more publicity than "it's coming out Wednesday" type of news, the way that bookstores have had parties for the latest book in a popular series, like Harry Potter.

But it is a huge FUCK YOU! to every other company, when they all agreed on Wednesday release dates way back in the day.Tragic Angelus wrote:It's definitely awkward. DC has to be looking into changing up release thanks to Marvel screwing them repeatedly like this.
After The Death of Johnny Store, they were going to release formic wars on a Tuesday, but the other companies all spoke out, so they cancelled it and said it would not be done again.
This is another Marvel ploy for free advertising to move comics. The news reports are a shit reason as well, as the still come out Monday or Tuesday, when the comics come out Tuesday night.
If they really wanted to stop it from happening, there would be a gag order on the story till Wednesday.
Also, this Tuesday thing isn't new.
A lot of comics suppliers get their comics the Friday before, and then move them out when diamond says it is okay.
A few of these suppliers provide the stores their comics on the Friday they come out, so they can do their files over the weekend.

I had hoped to get a copy of Danger Club #1 but of course my retailer under ordered so I didn't get one. Of course, if I had gone last night he would have been able to give me a copy. I did ask for a copy last week but we couldn't remember the name, he just forgot I had asked for it. And then he tries to sell me Hell Yeah #2 when he didn't have a copy of #1 for me when it first came out, and then said if I didn't want it if I hadn't gotten #1 he had other customers that wanted it. I reluctantly let him give it to someone else. I did pick up Superbia #2 even though I wasn't able to get #1 since it sold out before I got in the store that day. I basically told him that I want any Image #1 because I'll buy it since there have been so many successes recently.
Got a free signed copy of Danger Club at ECCC this weekend. I was just standing arond and they guy writer offered me a copy.
I read it tonight, and it was great. I didn't realize all the hype behind it.
I may be able to find you Hell Yeah 1/2, Danger Club 1, and Supurbia 1 if you like.
I need to go find some of them for myself, anyways.
Its a shame, Booms booth at ECCC had a couple hundred Supurbia on the table.

Sure, if you can find extra copies at near cover price then I'd definitely buy them off you. Thanks!wolf_2099 wrote:Got a free signed copy of Danger Club at ECCC this weekend. I was just standing arond and they guy writer offered me a copy.

My retailer underorders all non-Marvel/DC stuff so I miss out on some of the good stuff (as in he only gets like 5 copies and gives them to certain people before they even get space on the shelves, so I've missed a lot of good recent series like Thief of Thieves #1 and stuff like that).

I'll pass on the 2nd print, thanks though! I found out Midtown Comics finally got a copy back in so I nabbed that 1st printing.
Do you need my address again? And let me know how much I owe you, I should still have your paypal info from the last time you got something for me (no clue what it was though lol).
