Good review sites?

Anyone know any good review sites? Preferably for Marvel/DC/Image stuff.

CBR and Newsarama only do Marvel, and DC. They also seem incapable of giving a bad review. They review comics that are shit, and give them 4 stars. I would not be surprised if they were paid for favourable reviews.

Well, House to Astonish, obviously. Only those are podcasts. Not sure how much Image they do.

http://www.comicsbulletin.com isn't always handing out high ratings.

I've come to enjoy Multiversity Comics. They review Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, Image, and just about anything, but it's whatever the actual 'staff' members are reading, rather than anything put out. They've been pretty good at rating books on a scale of 1-10 usually, and whether you should buy it or skip it.

The reviews of http://www.housetoastonish.com are not all on the podcast. There are weekly reviews on Sunday night but mostly X-Books and some New DC and Image.

Also, on CBR blog "comics should be good", there is a guy who does a weekly column and reviews most of the books of the week, from all kind of publishers. And not afraid of giving them shit reviews. ComicsAlliance.com I'm finding, is a great site. It's got a wide variety of comic & pop culture articles that review everything from regular comic news events to critiquing artist & writer styles, video games & movies and offer some really indept opinion articles.

After hearing Stocky's unwavering support of House to Astonish, I gave the podcast a listen and was pleasantly surprised by their in depth and humerous reviews on comics. The podcast is broken up nicely into 3 segments: News, Reviews and the final segment called The Official Hand Book of the Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, where they take obscure D & F list characters created from an almost bygone era and riff on them.

The only criticism I have is that they mostly review books from Marvel, DC & Image, leaving out other Indie & smaller publishers like Darkhorse, IDW, Dynamite, Oni and so on.

Still its a great podcast. After listening to the current podcast I went back and began listening to podcasts from as far back as they would allow which was December 2010. Right now I'm up to October 2011 and nearly caught up. It helps that they record a podcast bimonthly.

2 weeks ago, they reviewed the new Conan from Dark Horse and Infestation from IDW. They are definitely diversing.

Glad you're enjoying them Wally!

Since you've been listening to them at a more frequent pace than I have, the things that pop up frequently probably stand out more for you e.g. Paul's distrust for anything with Loeb's name attached to it, the general distrust for a completion of anything Leifield has his name attached to and less humourously, but wonderfully informative is their take on any legal issues.

I have one slight complain about it : they tend to repeat the same thing over and over. Like the story about how the launch of Wolverine: Weapon X was a complete fuck-up. O'Brien must have explained in 4 podcasts the same story about how it was a misfire.

Yes, I've noticed the Loeb & Liefeld jabs and not mention the Frank Cho & Bendies jokes. About repeating certain things, they do that sometimes but its within the proper context, like when they talk about how Ultimatum was a complete botch job which led to the decline of the Ultimate line.

One thing that makes me laugh is how they credit Loeb with helping to bring down the entire Ultimate line

Have you got onto the one where they review Transformers More Than Meets the Eyes or Robots in Disguise? I can't remember which one they reviewed, but I found it to be really good. I bought because of their recommendation. I bought the sister book as well, which is enjoyable, but the better one stands out above it.

I think the podcast with the Transformers review also covers the Ghotstrider Marvel court case and it was a good listen.

Finished listening to the remaining year's podcasts and am ready for the newest installment. While going through the podcasts, I found that Al Kennedy sounds like a very likeable guy and he's pretty funny. I especially like his Frank Cho impressions which are obviously nothing at all what Cho sounds like. They all involve Cho explaining the plot to latest story which is clothes falling off the female characters.

Stocky, I do remember the podcast where they discussed TF: More Than Meets the Eye, though I can't recall which one it exactly is. They do tend to give great reccomendations about what titles to pick up.

The website only lists their podcasts going back a year but I'd definitely be interested to listen to their entire history
