THere is a small pouch in the books. I assume that is the lamp. I don't really want to have to read it in a tanning bed.

It was 17 pounds with shipping for my copy. So very fucking expensive.

Is your winky smiling face a way of subtlety asking if I can scan it for you?

Haha, not at all. It was more of a "damn, they sure were smart and found a way to make it so scanners can't scan the book easily by using this invisible ink" wink. Basically a nod to Warren Ellis for beating pirating...

Minis by Becky Cloonan - A self published collection of her early works before she did the first Demo with Brian Wood.

Junk One by Skottie Young - Sketchbook of Skottie Young.

Both were ordered through the artist's online store. Thank god for online stores!

Placed an order on mycomicshop last week. Mostly Lee Bermejo stuff to satisfy my recent completist state of mind.

To promote the DCnU, my comic shop offered 52% off any item in the store that was older than 2 weeks if you purchased a copy of either JLA #1 or Flashpoint #5.

When I heard that, I began scouring the store for trades I'd been planning on buying. I picked up:

Green Lantern: Blackest Night
Chew Vol 2: International Flavor
Crossed by Ennis
Jinx By Brian Michael Bendis
Red Hood: The Lost Days
The Dead Boy Detectives by Brubaker & Talbot
Scalped vol 8: Rez Blues
The Sixth Gun vol 2
Welcome to Tranquility: One Foot in the Grave

Jinx & Dead Boy Detectives I brought on a whim because they were written by writers I like. Bit of a risk but at 52% off, a risk worth taking.

Since my comic shop had the sale going on all day, a lot of what I wanted was sold out. i.e. Sweet Tooth, Morning Glories & Sixth Gun vol 1. Regardless of what I didn't get, I still got a ton of stuff I wasn't expecting.

Also, Jim Lee & Geoff Johns showed up at my comic shop (not while I was there) but earlier in the day to promote the DCnU. I'm probably going to check out Jim Hanley's Universe & Midtown comics tomorrow and see if they are offering similar deals.

Edit

I just found out that Lee & Johns hit up pretty much every comic shop in Midtown: Jim Hanley's, Manhattan Comics, Forbidden Planet & St. Marks on a promoting & signing spree; which I thought was very nice of them. Originally I thought it was just a tad snobbish when it sounded like they'd only be at Midtown comics for a signing. Kudos to them.

Jim Lee was even sketching.
Crossed is so sick that it is going to be right up your alley. Wouldn't want to be your missus after you're done reading it...

So I heard back from mycomicshop.
They say I can keep the wrong books and they have credited my account for the value of the books I originally paid for. Well, fuck you very much, this means if I want the right books, I have to pay shipping again. Because YOU screwed up. I'm a bit mad right now.

Anyway, anybody wants Angel and the Ape #1-4 from 1991?

Definitely awesome reads. I own all of Y but the issues are who knows where between my multiple moves during it's life. I don't know if I own all of Preacher or not, but I read them years ago and absolutely loved the series and want to read it again. I think I have a couple trades already so I'll likely try to sell the dupes.

And sadly I failed at getting Fables. It sold for $108, which is a steal and I should have bumped up my price but I've spent a lot recently so had to back down =o(

My back issue dude is now selling trades. I could see if he has a set and can get a deal for them if you like?

It's unlikely, but I can see.
