I think it ties in to the next storyline in the adjective-less X-Men book but I'm not positive. At one time I thought it tied into the storyline from Uncanny with the designer Mutant power giving drugs but I suppose not. Either way I'll get it and let you know.

I've been recently thinking about dropping adjective-less X-Men. It hasn't been as good as the others and there really haven't been real tie-ins to the main series...

Well let me just say, I finished it about 5 minutes ago and I really enjoyed this one. It is indeed a lead in to the next X-Men story. It's the "First to Last" storyline, which tells a story both in the past with the original X-Men and ties it into the current placement. It's written by Christopher Yost and drawn for by Paco Medina during the present, and Dalabor Talajic during the past.

I've been kind of enjoying adjective-less because it's putting them back into the Superhero game, just like Astonishing did when it launched. I did like the Spider-Man story, but I think that's because I really love Bachelo's artwork. I'm reading all four of the books titled "X-Men" right now (Uncanny, Legacy, Astonishing, and adjective-less) and while it's not my favorite, it is fun and fairly consistent. I've actually come to really like Medina's work, as he gives it that superhero-y cartoon feel. I'll be on it for awhile, at least until they cancel the book, as I can't imagine it'll last forever.

Guess I'll give it a try then.

Did you read Prelude to Schism? I'm still on the fence. The first issue was pretty bad, I don't even know what the hell happened in it anymore lol.

No, I didn't bother with it since Issue 1 was HORRIBLE in terms of art. I saw 3 panels in the middle and passed immediately. I'll get Schism but that art was bad. The art is different in this issue, but not enough to make me pick it up. I may read both in store tomorrow but not going to buy them.

I suggest at least thumbing through Giant Sized. And plus, if you're going to read X-Men for another story then you'll want it. But if you're going to drop it in 1 issue or two, you won't need it I suppose.

I skipped on Gates of Gotham but read it in store today and it wasn't bad. I just didn't like the art to be honest. A bit too Manga inspired for me.

Also, I thumbed through Avengers 13 and was impressed, mostly due to the art of Chris Bachelo. I'd like to read the rest of it if I get the time as it looked pretty decent.

Thanks for the suggestion, Ed. I really enjoyed the Giant Sized X-Men issue! Prelude to Schism was pretty shitty, interesting to hear more of Magneto's backstory but I'm not sure if I like him saying after whatever storm is coming that he's going to revert back to being called Max like his friends did when he was little.

Glad you enjoyed it! I found it to be a lot more fun than I had thought and it looks to be an interesting story at least, and hope it pans out. Yost can usually do very well when it comes to the X-Books it seems.

And what's the deal with Magneto in Schism? And since when did his name become Max Eisenhart or whatever it is now?

I'm gonna be honest, I don't even know the full plot of Prelude to Schism and I've been reading it. Basically it seems there is something (I thought it was a deadly storm but everyone sounds like they're ready for a fight, so it may be related to Fear Itself somehow or something similar). First issue has Cyclops talk to Professor X and think about the past. Second issue has Cyclops talk to Magneto, with Magneto telling him his life story (not sure if we knew but we find out Mag's mother and father's name with his father's name being Jakob Eishenhardt or however it's spelled). He talks how his father was in WWI and a good German Jewish who got honored for his fighting skills yet when WWII came they got screwed over by the government thanks to Hitler's Master Plan. Then the issue ends with Mags saying he's going back to Max, which came out of nowhere.
