Ka-Pow Comic Con April 9-10 in Merry Old England
Will any of our Euro friends be attending the brand new Ka-Pow Comic Con set to debut on April 9, 2011 at the London Business and Design Centre?
From what I've read, it sounds like Ka-Pow will have a lot of talent and plenty to do, although from certain comments made it sounds the organizers are trying to make it more of a pop-culture convention than a comic convention.
Making the Con pop-culture themed rather than comic specific does make sense from a business & marketing standpoint as it will give the organizers the opportunity to attract a wider audience than to limit it to a small (even smaller than the U.S.) demographic. Though obviously it sucks for the comic going public as they then have to share time & space with other non-comic related stands & fans

So, anyone going? Stocky? XIII? Mitch? Wulf?...
Cbka?

I might swing by, seeing how it's in Laaaaaaaandaaaan. [That's 'London' in an East London accent, by the way]
Check out the guests...

Another opportunity to wait in line for a no show JRJ
But, checkity, check these names out:
Frank Quitely
Steve Dillon
John McCrea
Awesome tits!

I have many comics that could use a second signature from those blokes.
Looks to be a pretty good con though.

... I totally forgot about this.
I mean, I realised late Friday, when I gazed at this thread and thought, "shit!" But, then I couldn't be bothered. I've been training hard for the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu British Open (held last weekend), so this totally escaped my mind. I'm feeling rather indifferent to it actually. If I had properly planned to go there and then not gone, I think I would have felt a bit annoyed, but since I totally forgot and can easily place why I forgot, I'm not too fussed.
Hopefully it was quite good, so that Millar gets another one booked for next year.
What also comes to mind, as a reason why I forgot about this, is that Newsarama and CBR have been rather silent about it! What's with that?
Also, so the question isn't dangling - I got bronze at the BJJ British Open! Although, there was only three people in my division and I lost twice. There's the Essex Open at the end of this month. I'm thinking of competing in that too.
I guess none of us - still - don't have a Frank Quitely signiture!

Sorry you couldn't go but yeah, at least you hadn't really planned to get there and have a lot done.
Also, I wouldn't abbreviate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu British Open too often. Not everyone wants to know that you got Bronze at the BJ British Open.
But also, congratulations on the high place! Even if there weren't many in your division!

Sorry you didn't place higher but congrats on getting the Bronze.
I've checked newsarama, CBR & Bleeding Cool and they all mostly just give Ka-Pow a link at the most and even with that, its just a link to an interview with Millar about his projects. Nothing about the Con itself, artists, panels, attendace etc...None of the quality reporting that SDCC, NYCC or even mid level cons like WonderCon got.
I don't know if I should chalk this up to the fact that these sites couldn't afford to send anyone across the pond or if it was just plain laziness. Probably the latter...
