Jim Lee signing at new Midtown Comics location on 12/19/10

Post by Mr Wallstreet »

And Johnathon Layman of CHEW fame is signing on December 16 2010.

Lee will only be signing from 2-4 on 12/19/10 and will not be doing any sketches & a purchase of ICONS The art of DC & Wildstorm is required & the limit for signing is 2 per person.

I don't think any such requirements are in place for Layman.

December 16th is a Thursday so I imagine I can knock off from work early that day if I feel like going to the Layman signing. December 19th is a Sunday so it should be no problem making it to that one either.

Does anyone want anything signed from either of these creators? I can't promise I can get signatures from them but I don't mind trying. Jim Lee is going to be a monster to try and get and I'm 100% that there will be no line jumping as it'll be closely monitored.

Let me know.

Midtown Comics will open a brand new comic book specialty shop in New York City’s historic financial district in downtown Manhattan on November 10th , which will be the third location for the company in NYC. This new haven for comic book aficionados will be on Fulton Street, near Broadway, within the vicinity of NYC landmarks that include Wall Street, the World Trade Center (Ground Zero), City Hall, Battery Park, and South Street Seaport. Grand opening events will take place in December, starting with Jonathan Layman, signing Chew, on December 16th and Jim Lee signing Icons: The DC and Wildstorm Art of Jim Lee on December 19th!

Whoooooa.. you have to buy ICONS in order to get Lee to sign something? That's a little steep. I mean, I understand a purchase to sign requirement for a lot of these things, but that means you have to buy it there on that day right? It's a $40 dollar book isn't it? And since it says he'll be signing it, I hope that they aren't meaning that and only that.

Layman would be cool, though outside of Chew I don't know of anything else he's really done.

Hope you have a good time though and get some cool things signed!

Yeah, I'm with Tragic, it sounds like you have to buy the Icon book to get a signature.
Thanks for the offer Fahran but I won't send anything.
If you want to do me a favor, go to King Con this weekend and give Paul Pope a kiss from me. ;)

Yeah, the purchase of the Icon book is required so I probably won't be attending the Lee signing. I like Lee's work but I'm clearly not big enough of a fan to buy Icon just so I can get it & one other book to sign.

Besides, why to bother when I can get him at next year's Con if I desire :).

As for Paul Pope, are we talking a peck on the cheek or full-on mouth on mouth?
