BRUCE WAYNE THE ROAD HOME ORACLE #1
GREEN ARROW #5
SUPERGIRL ANNUAL #2
SUPERMAN #704
TEEN TITANS #88
WONDER WOMAN #604
ZATANNA #6
UNCANNY X-MEN #529
X-MEN LEGACY #241

Holy crap that's a lot of books this week.

Supergirl annual will be the most expensive, but well worth as we lead to the end of Gates & Igle's run. Zatanna and Legacy look to shine this week, and I hope the Oracle issue is good as it's in place of BoP. Superman is the interlude issue and Teen Titans get's it's new creative team and streamlined roster so I hope it's as good as they're saying.

Bruce Wayne: The Road Home: Oracle #1
Justice Society of America #44
Zatanna #6
Avengers #6
Uncanny X-Men #529
X-Men Legacy # 241

Big week for me as well. Zatanna, X-Men, & JSA. Not sure how RoBW will be; I'm hoping it will be entertaining enough as they're replacing it with my beloved BoP. Though in about 2 years time when the whole damn thing is collected into softcover, I'll get it and see what the big deal was about.

Dutchie, did being at the con make you want to buy more comics, particularly from creators who were cool to you? Cause I get that everytime.

It made me want to buy the Bendis/Maleev DD harcovers. I'd like for Maleev to sign them and then throw them in his face, yelling "What's this kind of crap signature?!"

But yes. I've never realised Becky Cloonan is that awesome an artist, for example. Or Ryan Kelly, I'll see if I can find Local. Or that Stumptown, incidentally.

Also, just being there reminded me again that I really, really love comics.

To those of you who browse a few books each week I have a question:

How often do you end up picking up the books you browse through? Or is it that you pretty much thumb through them and get the main idea to see what's going on that way you don't have to pick them up?

When I do it I'm usually just seeing if I want to pick it up, but it ends up telling me the whole story so I usually avoid getting it then, especially on bigger weeks. Was just curious.

Sometimes I buy them, sometimes I don't. It depends on a variety of things. Case in point with last week's Batman/Superman, I really loved the cover and art so I decided to try it. I generally don't try to look at major plot points but just pay attention to any guest stars and such. Only reason I continued with the Avengers is because it had Apocalypse in the 2nd issue (or was it first?)

Sometimes I say "maybe" just because it's gotten a lot of buzz on Twitter (I'm a whore to pop culture buzz, yet I do ignore reviews). Case in point, Morning Glories had a lot of buzz in advance and I'm glad I picked it up cause it's really good so far.

This week I'm debating on the SUPERMAN EARTH ONE HC. I've heard a LOT of buzz on this and the premise sounds pretty fun but I'm not a fan of the $20 price tag and it being hardcover.

So I broke down and besides the first list, picked up:
BEASTS OF BURDEN HELLBOY ONE SHOT
TEEN TITANS #88
SUPERMAN EARTH ONE HC
VERTIGO RESURRECTION #1
HEROCLIX BRIGHTEST DAY PACK

This week was not very fun financially, lol.

Jeez dude.. between Earth One and that Heroclix pack you spent a ton of money.. not to mention what, nearly 20 books? At least you'll be entertained for the whole week!

...yeah, October has been a horrible month with lots of comics. Not sure what is so special about this month but I seriously need to do a culling because of this. And yes, it was a shitload of money this week which I'm not happy with =o/

Halloween. Tons of holiday type books come out, and on top of that characters who can capitalize on the month (like Batman) get another big push. It's all a matter of showing restraint.

Then again if you're having a blast no reason to restrain!

I read somewhere that Earth One is "Superman for the Twilight generation". I DO NOT WANT TO READ THAT!

Agreed. I also read it was pretty good, though.

Non comic people are calling it that. Comic people are calling it "are you fucking retarded? this has nothing to do with Twilight, don't even mention that series at all"

I heard on CNN Headline News early Wed. Morning that lead anchor, and love of my life, Robin Meade actually called it "Superman for the Twilight Generation" and I was pissssseeeeeddddd.

She said it was a darker take on the hero, and making him younger for a new generation. Knowing this was what she was told to say, I tweeted right to her that she was wrong, saying it was an alternate take, not a re-imagining (tho this could be debated even in the comic circle) and they didn't give the full story.

Needless to say, while I appreciate hearing about comic things in major mainstream media, I HATE that they don't know the full deal on what they're talking about and always promote it the entirely wrong way.

How is this different from any other news story?

I suppose when you're someone in the circle of already knowing the goings on, like we've known about Superman: Earth-One for almost a year now, how when the rest of the world catches on they completely botch the whole premise in just one day.

I'm sure a longer piece rather than a quick blurb would've explained it, like in some of the articles that hit this week, but a short blurb that explains it in the wrong way is kind of upsetting. And yeah, I'm sure that happens all the time and often, news stories will correct themselves as they get more information and the correct info. But in our case, we don't warrant enough of a meaning or reasoning to actually correct or tell the whole story too often.
