New York Comic Con 2010: To Buy/Get/Meet List
Since that time is ever growing closer here is what I have my eye on to buy at NYCC 2010
Scott Pilgrim vol 1-6
The Losers vol 1&2
Star Wars, Buffy, Conan, The Walking Dead, Metal Gear Solid memorabilia
I was originally going to buy 1 or 2 volumes of Scott Pilgrim at a time but then when I saw what happened to Stocky (Losers going out of print & the series being reprinted) I decided instead to pick up the entire series altogether
Any swag related to The Walking Dead. The Walking Dead tv series will be debuting on the AMC network at the end of October so this'll be the last chance for AMC to really plug their show and I really cant see a last and better venue to plug their show than at NYCC.
Artists I want to meet:
Stan Lee
Robert Kirkman
Brian K Vaughan
Joss Whedon...kinda
Geoff Johns
Glenn Fabry
Paul Dini
Clearly not all these bigwigs'll be there but its just a list of people I hope'll be there.
So does anyone else have anything on their list they're looking to get at the Con?
Besides Losers vol 5?

Giuseppe Camuncoli >> sketch and comics signature
Eric Canete >> sketch
Jim Cheung >> comics signature

I think I'll be spending a lot of time in Artist's Alley chasing creators and plan to stay away from anything "TV" or "movie" related.
I'll also make a list of books I want to get while I'm there.

I'm not sure yet, there are several things I'd really love to get, but I don't have the money for all of them.
I'll definitely be looking for the Sandman bookends and the Alias omnibus. I'll be looking for those in Washington prior to the NYCC as well. Also interested in Planetary, Bendis' DD, Bru's Cap and Ennis' Punisher and TWD from TPB 9 on up.

Those bookends, yes. If you run into them before NYC, I'd be VERY interested. I've been looking for them for a while now.
The Alias Omnibus? Not entirely sure, what's the coverprice again? I noticed the price on Amazon seems way more than what can be the coverprice. Why, you happen to have one extra?

The Alias Omnibus is likely out of print & sold out. The outrageous prices you are seeing on amazon are from private sellers who are selling it at 50-100% above a reasonable selling price. This practice is known as price gouging.
On another, zombie related, note; I am really hoping that The Walking Dead television show becomes a critical & ratings sucess. I would be terribly saddened if TWD gets cancelled prematurely or goes the way of dozens of past critically acclaimed television shows that just couldn't cut it ratings-wise.

They are always expensive and very popular, cheapest I ever saw them was $300 US.
The Alias omnibus is as Wally said, out of print and also very hard to find. Doubt you'd get a deal on it, it'd be easier to find trades or issues of it, I bet.

I'd be willing to pay $300 for the bookends easily, I'd likely go higher with the price as well.
These are probably as good as anything for Alias, and as good of a price as you'd get at the show, probably, and you don't have to carry them back with you.

Both softcovers though, but both in print right now, unlike the smaller trades and omnibus.

No problem.MGM wrote:Oh, nice! I'm definitely getting those! 40 euro's total, thanks for the link.
It seems like a good idea to get those at the convention for cheap.
Then you have to lug the fuckers around the day you bought them, and home with you.
Like Arn with the Absolutes.

No cars there. No where to store stuff. And the cost of those alias trades isn't going to be much cheaper if they have them, and there is the plus of not worrying about the weight for the airplane coming home.jedispyder wrote:Last time I went to Wizard World Chicago there was this place full of cheap trades. I probably bought about 10 X-Men trades and such. Fuck were those heavy to lug around! Best bet is to buy the trades right before you plan to take a break, lug them to the car, then wash rinse repeat.
