Help Me Win Prizes!

Post by Tragic Angelus »

So my shop is doing something for Free Comic Book Day, and you have to Identify the letters from DC Comic titles, and the letters are spelled out in the shops name. I have EVERYTHING but three letters:

V- Vertigo Logo
I- The Spirit (2007)
N- Teen Titans Logo (Modern)
T- Y the Last Man
A- Tiny Titans Logo
G- Green Lantern Logo (Silver Age)
E- Fables Logo

P-Power Girl Logo
H- Hawkman/Hawkgirl Logo
O- Outsiders Logo
E- Wonder Woman (Modern)
R- Robin Logo
I- Secret Six Logo
X- Jonah Hex Logo (Modern)

The E is screaming out familiarity to me, as it looked Green Arrow ish around OYL but I couldn't find a decent fit. I don't read enough Vertigo or Wildstorm to take stabs at those, as I got Fables just by seeing the cover for long enough.

The I is soooo standard I can't place it. I'm sure many of these will slap me in the face when they're revealed but it's killing me. I have to have this in by Free Comic Day, so i want to drop it off next Wed. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

That T has to be some Titans logo. Has to. Can't do much more than that. That E is indeed familiar.

That's what I think about the T too, but I can't place it. It's not the current Teen Titans or Titans, as I have all of those (mostly) and never saw it. I was thinking like Team Titans or something in the 90s when I wasn't reading, but can't figure it out.

Just got back from the shop and couldn't for the life of me find examples of the three I'm missinng. I spent about 10 mintues looking at new books, titles on older racks for current runs, and some time in the Vertigo section looking at logos.

With some spanning way back like the GL one, and them having little back issues it won't be easy.

You can try going to a place like mycomicshop.com and looking through their DC listings if you get really stuck.

The T is from Y-The Last Man: http://www.comicbookdb.com/issue.php?ID=5483

You can check out that website to view covers of other series, I've been going through a couple looking for the last 2.

Also, FYI, pretty sure the V is not coming from Vertigo but instead from The Invisibles. Especially since it's supposed to be from comic book titles and not the publisher itself.

Thanks for the T. I looked at everything on the link wolf put up including Y, but over looked that!

As for the V, I went with Vertigo after remembering this: http://www.hypergeek.ca/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/vertigo-logo.jpg

Which it really really resembles. I looked at some Invisibles, but the line up of the letters just didn't seem to fit with me. I suppose I could go either way.

Yeah, it definitely does look like that. I just wouldn't think they'd go with an imprint logo but it seems so. Maybe they wanted to throw people off track?

I doubt it. I think the Vertigo one is a bit more recognizable than the Invisibles one, which I think they'd go for. But then again, since I can't figure out that damn E, I don't know what all they'd do.

The I is the one bugging me, it looks so damn familiar and I just can't place it. I looked at covers from DC comics through the ComicBookDB's listing of DC comics but I couldn't find anything.

Agreed. It's such a simple block letter that it's driving me nuts. I keep thinking things like Suicide Squad or Secret Six when I look at it but that's not it.

And most of the I's in titles are either straight letters with no edges at the top and bottom, or have angled ones rather than blocks. I can't figure it out.
