By the time NYCC10 rolls around, my muscles'll have muscles!

In the here and now, I've been pretty lazy ever since Thanksgiving. I haven't jogged at all since October and I've been working out sporadically here and there. However, all will change as soon as the weather gets better (hopefully by April) and I can re-begin my workout reigment. On the plus side, I do a lot of walking several times a day to keep from letting myself go to hell.

In other news, I will miss Conan. I liked his show a lot and am sad to see him go (but not too sad as he got a big fat paycheck) and eagerly await his return. I know its a day late and a dollar short but:

Hey there Wallybean!

I was thinking of taking advantage of your good self, if that's okay with you?

I'm thinking of getting a new pair of DC shoes/'sneakers' and those bastards at Amazon.com (as opposed to the more local, '.co.uk') won't deliver to the UK. Any chance I could send them to your address, pay you for postage to the UK and have you ship them to me? Obviously I won't be buying much heroin on Amazon.com, but if you do agree to be my intermidiate you should probably expect a bit of H to be wrapped up in the packaging. Obviously.

No problem.

I'll PM you my address and any other details you may need here and on Facebook and you can send me any info necessary and don't worry about the postage.

I also don't know if you're joking about the heroin.

Thank you Wally.

And of course I'm joking about the heroin. I meant cocaine.

Nice to know you are down with this. :D

So my latest obsession is posters. Not just comic posters but video game and movie posters as well. I don't buy any and every poster I see but only ones I really like. I've got a few posters already and have been buying a few more here and there and now I've got a pretty nice mix of video game, comic & movie posters. By now I've got maybe half a dozen posters. I haven't put them up anywhere and I'm not sure I will but they're nice to have. I've mostly just been collecting them.

Here is what I have so far:

And I have a bunch of other non comic/tv/movie/gaming stuff.

Combat Kickboxing!!!

On the advice of a few people, some of whom are on this board, I took up Cardio Kickboxing 3 weeks ago. The kickboxing class cost me $200; its 2-4 days a week for about 40-45 minutes for 10 weeks. The instructor requires you to come in at least 2 days a week so you can get, at least, some kind of effect from it but they can't really force you to come. Besides, if you don't want to come to the class, its your own money you'll be wasting.

I go 4 days a week and every day we work out a different part of our body. Some days its legs, thighs & abdomen (I can never spell it) other days its arms, shoulders & chest etc... There are about 4 instructors there and they rotate so not only do we work out different parts of the body everyday but we do different routines so we don't get used to it. About the only thing we don't do is weight training. Some work out places offer that, some don't. I think thats something I'll have to take up myself in the coming months.

Also, just to be clear I didn't join a traditional gym, I joined a Martial Arts gym. The instructor/Senseii, teaches Karate, Ju-Jitsu, & MMA. The Karate is mostly taught to the kids but the Ju-Jitsu & MMA is reserved for adults. I'm not really going out for the MMA or Ju-Jitsu.

I don't consider myself a lightweight when it comes to doing cardio, but the first week was rough. After the first 2 sessions, my body was so sore, it hurt to move. My thighs, back, stomach & arms were all aching. I was having trouble sitting, getting up, walking, pretty much doing anything that involved motor function. At work people kept asking why I was walking funny & if I hurt myself. I merely smiled (the one act that didn't hurt) & said I was just a bit sore.

After the first week though, my body wasn't sore anymore. I was still getting a hardcore workout, but any soreness in my body wasn't nearly as bad, nor did it linger too long. I also feel like I was getting a much better workout too.

Last summer when I took up jogging, I'd jog for 2 hours & work up a pretty hard sweat. In the 40 minutes that I work at the Karate gym, I'm probably sweating as much as, if not more than, I did when I was jogging. And obviously, I'm working out different parts of my body. The workout isn't static nor does it continuously focus on just my legs & stomach.

So far its going well. There are some days when I don't feel like going to class but my motivation to get into better shape keeps me going back there...And the fact that I dropped $200 for the class.

Just to be clear, what I'm doing now probably doesn't qualify as actual Kickboxing. It's more like kickboxing for beginners. If you've been doing kickboxing for a while, I imagine your workout is probably a lot more intensive than mine. Still, this class serves my purpose; its getting me in better shape in half the time.

The class/program I'm involved in runs until the last week of July then I'm given the option to continue under a longer program. I guess I'll decide when when the time comes.

I forgot to mention the best part, I got a snazzy pair of kickboxing gloves & a t-shirt for free when I signed up!

Also, if it kickboxing aerobics, it would be very different from mine.

Mine would be a lot more technical.

Still a wonderful workout though, defiantly getting your times worth doing it.

So I still haven't sorted all my comics from NYCC. I've caught up on all work related work, rested, relaxed cleaned my home and am back to my 9-6 routine but the one thing I still haven't done is taken care of my comic swag. I'll do it this weekend.

Got my phone bill for the month of October. It wasn't as bad as I thought would be. I racked up an extra $40 on my phone bill during the week of the Con.

Was that due to the explosion of the servers and things being overloaded or calling someone 5 states away? XD

Not an explosion of servers but kinda the latter. Most of my overage charges came from calling the guys dung the Con on their phones. The area codes were out of the U.S. despite the physical proximity hence the charges.

Not a big deal really & not as high as I was expecting which is good. I had calculated something a bit higher so I'm satisfied

Oh no, I'm not blaming anyone (I'm blaming you, Ed ;)). I'm just saying that my phone expenses during the Con were a lot smaller than what I thought they would be; especially compared to last year when I racked up a huge bill on just texts alone.
