Any interesting news in Marvel?
Title says it all.
Only reading DD, Legacy, & Uncanny, I don't know what's really going on in the wider MU. Anything fun happening?

I like the notion that Marvel is tieing in all of their major events of the last few years together. Civil War leading to Secret Invasion, leading to Dark Reign, leading to Siege, etc.
But at times it just seems.. so fast. Dark Reign has only been going on for what feels like maybe 6 months (tho I'm sure it's longer, just feels that long having not read the actual books). And those time frames just feel like it's enough for some of these stories to really hit their stride before they advertise they're tearing it down for the next one.
But I won't lie. I'm actually interested in Siege. 4 issues, and the prosal of the Avengers getting back to what they should be? Sounds like 4 issues of hardcore, non-stop action to me, and I could be in for that.

That's funny cause the complaints I've heard are quite contrary, saying that the Dark Reign has been going on for too long already.
I've read every book with the Dark Reign tag on it and I can see where the critics are coming from. Some books are getting repetitive quite fast, New Avengers being the best example.
But it's still a great storyline and really kuddos to Marvel for shaking the statu-quo, having a very coherent universe and having it move forward adequately.

What's Siege suppoed to be about, and when does it start?
I like Dark Reign, but if you read multiple Marvel books, it does get repetitive. It's basically all the same, only with another main character pitted versus Osborn. Still, it's got the same appeal as Luther in the White House: a real bad guy as the main leader. Since Marvel is stupidly going with the actual president all that remains is someone as SHIELD leader.
I do dislike the fact that this means all books basically have to twist their storylines around all crossovers, BTW.

Dark Reign is an American comic book storyline that began in December 2008. Published by Marvel Comics, it deals with the aftermath of the Secret Invasion limited series, which led to a shift of power in the Marvel Universe toward Norman Osborn.[1][2][3] "Dark Reign" refers to Osborn's rise to global power and the ramifications of the changes across the Marvel Universe.[4] Joe Quesada, editor-in-chief of Marvel Comics, stated that Dark Reign is not really "an event; it's whats happening in the Marvel Universe". He believes that "Dark Reign leads to an interesting place in the Marvel Universe. I think you'll see a pulling back at the end of Dark Reign, but you'll understand at the end of it what we were trying to get to."[4]

"French is like anal, exotic but oh so unnecessary."
Siege is about Norman Osborn trying to take on Thor. The Siege is that of Asgard.
It will bring the end of the Dark Reign and the rise of the Heroic Age.
Marvel already has teaser around for the Heroic Age and it features the shape of the big Three (Iron Man, Cap and Thor) but the shapes are all black so it means they could be other characters that the real deal.

Just need to point out. DC is no different, you just prefer the characters. (I think you do, that is.)Tragic Angelus wrote:Part of this is why I stick to the Three core X-books and basically nothing more. Only other Marvel I get are whatever they do with the Inhumans, which lately was War of Kings and now Realm of Kings. I enjoy the minor/self contained events that I dont need half a dozen books to follow.
