Wonder Woman: Love and Murder (spoilers)

Post by Mr Wallstreet »

The story wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, but still bad. Picking up from where Heinberg left off with Diana posing as a federal gent for the Dept. of Meta -Human Affairs, shes now teamed up with another agent and tasked to find -and bring in- Wonder Woman.

Circe makes her debut and brings Hippolyta back to life, and manages to get Hippolyta behave like she just fell off the bread truck yesterday. Hippolyta, after seeing Wondy in prison adheres to the advice of Circe and decides to wage war on the U.S. I'm not saying Hippo should've done nothing at all or let Diana rot in prison but to jump to war so quickly and on the word of someone who's screwed you over more times than you can count -well that just makes you dumb.

The characterization was all off and all over the place. Wonder Woman is giving Clark a run for his money in the emotional whining department "Who am I?, Am I human enough? Am I not human enough?" Good Jebus. Enough already. Introspection and emotional conflict are great for characters to grow but we don't need to read about their whining in every f'ing panel.

The art was another problem. Three artists for a 5 issue storyline? The inconsistency of the art made reading about Diana's whining all that much more difficult.

I really can't wait till Simone's books are released in softcover

Yea, it really doesn't get going until then. The Attack of the Amazons portions aren't too bad, but after that it's all working much better.

The motivation for Hippolyta going to war with the Washington was just weak. It'd be like Superman letting Metallo talk him into fighting the U.S.
