I went to London Super Comic Convention last week. It was quite good.
Got John Layman's signiture on Chew#1, which was great. I was tempted to get some art, but none of the creators there appealed to me, so I just turned up and had a little look to see if any artists advertised work would inspire me to request something.
A few people wisely had their prices on a piece of upright laminated paper. Usually it was broken down as:
- Bust
- Full body
- Full body with background
- + colour
Obviously bigger name artists will carry higher prices, but what would you say is a good price for all the above?

My general accepted prices are;
Bust - 40-100
Full Body - 100-200
I find a full body 11x17 for $200 to be very fair.
These two are hard to get;
Full Body Background - 200-400
Full Body Color - 200-400 (I have no color that was done by the artist, actually, and just one sketch colored)
For more established names.
Some are quite a bit more, some can be less.
The lesser known artists can do full body for $50.
I've spent anywhere between $20-$800 on sketches. The $20 one is one of my favorites.
My favorite 3 cost $200, $200 & $400.

"French is like anal, exotic but oh so unnecessary."
I got something done by him for a guy once.XIII wrote:Last week, Mark Texeira was signing and sketching at my local comics shop. I overheard his manager saying €175 got you a torso. So that's really expensive compared to the prices Cameron put up above.
He is really expensive, great work, but out of the ordinary pricey.

He was apparently very friendly though. At point, after sketching the whole morning and part of the afternoon, he said it was way too hot in the shop with not enough light so he walked out and started sketching using the hood of a parked car as a table! You should have seen the look on the face of people walking by.
