Endings, Relaunches and Departures

Post by Mr Wallstreet »

Wolverine and the X-Men is ending at issue 42 and rather than relaunch it, Aaron will be the writer of a brand new X-title that I cannot remember because my brain is sluggish. If anyone can help a brotha out, I'd be grateful.

DareDevil is being relaunched early next year as part of Marvel NOW! With Mark still as the writer - which is fine by me. I don't give 2 shits about Marvel and their gimmicky relaunches.

Geoff Johns s leaving Aquaman after issue 25.

Lately Johns has been hit or miss but I have been loving his Aquaman. I thought he'd stay on longer and give Aquaman the same (long term) treatment he gave Green Lantern. I hope the next creative team is just as good

I think it's Amazing X.Men, the title that's relaunching Nightcrawler.

Also, Aaron is going to write a book that deals with the murder of Uatu the Guardian. They didn't say if it will be an arc of a current book or a new one. Unfortunately, it will have art by Mike Deodato.

I don't think the book replacing Wolverine & the X-Men is Amazing X-Men, I think it's a new book launching after the ending.

With Marvel's current trade, it could very well be... Wolverine and the X-Men #1!!!!

Think of the never ending combinations if you choice to put an adjective in from of both, 'Wolverine' and also 'X-Men'.

Found it!

X-Men Gold

http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page ... ew&id=6653

And it only took me the better part of a week for me to find it. In an interview Alex Alonso did several weeks ago he alluded to the new X-Men Gold title that has, will or be released, will be a continuation of Aaron's Wolverine & the X-Men, however I don't know if he had his wires crossed because it clearly doesn't seem to the case. Unfortunately, I can't find the article, just reviews and the image.

The X-Men Gold title features of a cast of A Days of Futur Past looking Wolverine, young Cyclops, Bishop, Storm, Gambit, Jubilee, Angel & Shadowcat & 90s Jean Grey

It's a one shot by Claremont, not an ongoing.

I'll pick it up in the dollar bin at a con. Much as I think Lee & Claremont were great in their time, I wouldn't drop $5.00 for anything with their names on it today. Not put of spite but they really can't write anymore. I'm sure this will sell purely because its got Lee & Claremont's name on it.

Well, guess what's coming your way in March? WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #1, by Jason Latour and Mahmud Asrar.

I'm psychic like that.

I'm not all that familiar with Latour. Seems he has been writing Wolverine: Japan's Most Wanted which appears to be a digital comic (similar to Injustice). He's also written the last 5 issues of Winter Soldier.

I do like Mahmud Asrar art, he did majority of the first 20 issues of the new Supergirl which were beautiful.

Oh no, no, no. Pass. Asrar'a art is nice to look but it's not enough to get me to pick up W&TXM.

Has anyone read anything by Latour?

I'd never heard of the writer until today. Asrar's art isn't too bad, but of course I'll be getting it since it features the faculty of the school. If it was solely about the kids I might change but this doesn't sound too bad.

He's mostly an artist, isn't he?

He started out as an artist but recently, he has been doing more writing than art (a creator owned book with an indie publisher, the Winter Soldier book, the Wolvie digital book...).
I think his next art gig is Southern Bastards, the upcoming Image book written by Jason Aaron.
