David Mazzuchelli was doing a signing at Midtown comics yesterday. I found out about it that very morning. While I was empyting out my bag getting ready for work, a flyer fell out about a Midtown signing with Mazzuchelli. Signatures would be limited to 4 per person so I dug out my Batman: Year 1.
I don't think I'd ever seen Mazzuchelli at a Con so I decided to try and get it. Mazz was at Midtown promoting the release of his new artist edition HC of DareDevil born again (which is a huge f'ing book).
The only thing that sucked was that originally it was just supposed to be a signing from 6-8pm in which Mazz promoted his new book but Midtown changed the signing to a "Book Club Signing". This meant that from 6-7 Mazzuchelli discussed his work on DD in a discussion moderated by Chip Kidd and the signing would be from 7-8 with the number of items cut down to 2 per person.
So it sucks it could't get all my Year 1's signed but i got the first 2 signed.

Somewhat. Mazz talked about the early days of writing/drawing comics and being an upcoming artist & how DD & Year 1 helped open up new doors for him. He talked about how different the editorial process was back then, no constant shake-ups in writing or constant mega events. He mostly discussed his time at Marvel. Overall a fun experience but I could've done without it if I could've just gotten my 4 Year 1's signed
However, he seemed like a helluva nice guy. All smiles and laughing.
