I'm willing to give Cavill a shot, however, I do still think that Routh was a good Superman, he was just working with a mediocre script. With a better story Routh would have been a great Superman

I whole heartedly agree with that, it is unfortunite that he could not reprise the role. but it is very understandable that they would want to distance themselves as far as possible from the stink of Superman returns
While I'm excited for a Nolan Superman, I'm with Mitch so far. That guy (or at least that photo of him) does not say 'Superman' to me. I'm sure once he's all dressed up and his hair is done right he might, but so far I don't see Superman in him just yet.
Yeah, if that's the same guy then the definitely looks like Superman there. That I can get behind. The other pics I've seen just didn't do much justice to the selection.
Diane Lane has been cast as Martha Kent and rumors are that Kevin Costner is a possible candidate for Jonathon Kent.
Both are generally pretty good actors and can be great actors when they want to be so I'm on board with this. The thing that seems to riling people up is the casting of Diane Lane as Ma Kent; people don't want a "milf" to be Superman's mother. It's probably subjective but I don't think she's a milf. At al.
I've heard more that people are excited she's been cast, often for that same reason. I have no objections to her yet, though I've seen little. It seems more like a plan to have slightly younger parents, almost tying it into Smallville in a way. I'll be interested to see how this goes.
I think she's a really good actress, far better than Bosworth, mind you. Adams doesn't look a whole lot like Lois but that's not a bad thing. More importantly, Adams has acted in a comedic films as well as dramatic so she definitely has range.
