Midtown Comics Signing 6/21/10

There was a signing at Midtown Comics today from 5pm - 7pm. Guests of honor were Ed Brubaker, Matt Fraction, Brian Bendis & Christos Gage. The limit for signing was 4 books per person; you could either have one book signed per artist or 2-3 books for one artist. Not more than that.

I got there at 4 o'clock and even then the line was pretty long. The line was supposed to start moving at 5pm but Midtown started letting people in at 4:30 (yay) because it was pretty damn hot outside. Thank goodness for my sexy iPhone, it helped me kill 30 minutes till the line started moving.

Security was pretty tight; Midtown issued tickets for people in line so no one could cut & had several employees stationed at various points throughout the line for extra assurance.

SoOoOoOoOoO I got 4 books signed. I got Criminal: Sinners & Coward signed by Brubaker; Sinners for Wulf & Coward for myself.

I got Marvel Team-up signed by Bendis. Bendis wrote this years ago, around 04 or 03. One of my favorite runs.

Lastly I got an issue of Uncanny signed by Fraction. And that was it, I hit my limit for total # of books signed by creators.

I stayed for a little bit to get a few pictures but I couldn't stay long as Midtown employees were ushering out people, who had books signed, quickly so they could get others in.

That sounds awesome! Sorry about the book limit, but with those heavy hitters from Marvel, I could easily understand why they did it.

Bendis' Marvel Team-Up, are you referring to the Ultimate Marvel Team-Up series he wrote when the Ultimate line first started? I loved that series, and the send off issue was fantastic!

It wasn't a big deal really. I didn't have a stack of 20 books for them to sign.

Yes, thats the one. It was a great run and it was back when the Ultimate line was still pretty new so everything had a somewhat fresh take on it and when Bendis' pateneted talking head dialog didn't grate on my nerves.

The rules didn't really bother me any. It was a 30 minute wait until the line began moving and after that the line moved fairly quickly so it wasn't the end of the world. The only real problem was the heat. Everyone was lined up outside and we had the sun glaring down on us. I had a tan running up and down the left hand side of my body.

Wulf, I'll ship out your Criminal issue this friday. Hopefully you'll receive it late enxt week.
