Over at Dwayne McDuffie’s blog, he made an announcement that I’m sure a TON of readers will appreciate: “Warner Home Video revealed the title of my next project, so I can finally talk about it. It’s a feature-length animated adaptation of one of the greatest stories in comic book history. And it will be out next spring: Morrison and Quitely’s All Star Superman.”



Though the story was a fantastically enjoyable read, I wouldn't catergorize it as "one of the best stories in comic book history". Nonetheless, I am excited to see it.

The 2 big questions remain: 1) Will they use the classic Tim/Dini animation style or will they try to adapt Quitley's version like they did with McGuiness' for the DCAU film Public Enemies and 2) Who will be the voice cast?

On the first point, while I am in love with the classic Bruce Tim/Paul Dini style of animation, I would like to see them use Quitley's art style for the film and on the 2nd point for voice cast: Tim Daly & Clancy Brown. I don't care if it means I'm stuck in the past, I think those two are awesome.

Now lets get cracking on a Flash, Aquaman, Birds of Prey, Power Girl, & another Wonder Woman film.

If the art is like the Tim/Dini style then I won't be happy. If they try to adapt it somewhat from Quitely's art, then I'll love it. That's what made the story mesh so well is the writing and art going together so well. It'd be like if you ever see a Daredevil cartoon of Bendis' first arc, you expect it to be dark and gritty so if they do it sunny and happy it just won't work.

I'm not excited about this at all really, because we're getting a Batman film out today, the next Superman/Batman story, and then another Superman Story. I could deal with all these Superman and Batman stories coming out if in between each one was another character, like Flash, GL, JSA, etc. but because of low returns on WW and GL, we're not going to get those for a long time.

While I'm not a fan of Quitely's art entirely, I too would hope they use his style like they did with Cooke and McGuiness', and a new style used for the upcoming S/B: Apocalypse to mix up with Turners. Capturing that artistic style really breathes new life into the films and makes them something worth the attention past the fact that they're another animated.


Agreed, Clancy Brown must be Lex without a doubt. If anyone else takes it on it just doesn't sit well with me. I didn't care much for Marsters' turn at Luthor in Doomsday, and would've preferred Brown.


And a related side note, I've STILL yet to read the story as it is, so I can't make too many other judgements on it.

I don't see much of Quitely's art in it to be honest. Some, but not a lot. The story though seems interesting enough to make we want to read the books.

No. No Quitely art at all. I can understand using the house style though. Shame.
