Mortal Kombat: Rebirth

Post by Mr Wallstreet »

There is a roughly 8 minute trailer that has been circulating the interwebs for a week or so about Mortal Kombat. Initially no one knew wtf this was; some folks thought it was the trailer for a new Mortal Kombat film & others thought it was part of a viral marketing campaign to drum up interest in the MK video game series.

Turns out the trailer is a pitch towards studios to revive the Mortal Kombat movie series and this is roughly the director's vision of the new film. It's mostly dark & gritty with a noir feel to it. Though the original MK films weren't really that campy, the new film supposedly eliminates the high emphasis placed on supernatural; specifically Outerworld or wherever the hell Tsang Tsung is from. The film is still supposed to have finishing moves and fatalities & some super poweredness but not a whole lot.

Trailer is below. It's almost 8 minutes long but very well done in my opinion; especially considering the the budget was $7,500.00

If the trailer is shitty, just type in Mortal Kombat Trailer or Reboot or Movie or whatever

I loved it! Thought it was very interesting to try to make sense of these other worlders in our reality, think they did a good job of it. Cap'n Jack called it horrible, but he's picky as fuck with movies ;)

He talked about how poor and amateurish it was and the plot was bad. He said he can now only take my reviews with a grain of salt since I enjoy everything, lol.

I thought it was quite interesting.

Seemed like a pitch for a tv show to me.
