Trick 'r Treat

If anyone is in the mood for a good horror film, I would strongly recommend Trick ‘r’ Treat. Trick r Treat is an anthology of 4 intertwined horror stories that revolve around the spirit & Rules of Halloween and what happens when you break the rules …If you break the rules of Halloween you die.

The cast is a mixture of kids/young adults and seasoned actors. Each story in the anthology focuses on a different cast of characters and a different rule with some characters from other stories making a brief appearance before moving on.

Both the dialogue and the acting were pretty solid with the exception being some of the child actors. There was heavy use of suspense and scary atmosphere with limited blood and gore. A lot of the graphic violence is mostly muted and happens off camera which is a wonderful change from all the gratuitous torture porn that’s been dominating horror films lately. There isn’t a whole lot of humor in this movie but what little there is, is nicely done. It’s not exactly hilarious but its enough to make you either smile or sigh heavily. I smiled. Yes I did.

The pacing was pretty even throughout the film and it only felt slow in a few places.

Anthologies, generally, aren’t popular and I had a few reservations myself about seeing this film but from the reviews I read, and after watching it, it was definitely worth it. It’s a good horror/thriller film that doesn’t revel in blood and guts for 90 minutes.

I absolutely loved this! Totally didn't expect the Anna Paquin stuff, it's always good when I'm surprised...

I've wanted to see this for what feels like years, since I saw a preview for it on a DVD I own (to which I can't recall right now) and have been looking around for it for ages, so I'm glad to hear it's decent and enjoyable.

I didn't know it was an anthology though.. Does it do one story at a time, and you realize they occur simultaneously/or are related as each one goes on, or do you get bits and pieces of each from time to time, seeing how they connect ala Crash?

I saw this at a film festival for halloween. I really enjoyed it, reminded me of the old creepshow and tales from the crypt movies.

Good festival too, saw this and daybreakers.
