Great film. This is, what I believe what most spy films should be like.
Some Spoilers ahead
The film devoted considerable time to stratergizing, cultivating assets, getting back-stabbed, forming alliances and operating out of back channels. That's not to say that all that transpired was talking in dimly lit rooms for the entire duration of the film, there was action but it was mostly when the assets were in mortal danger rather than a lot of cowboy bullshit.
Of course the film wasn't perfect. It does have a few cliches riding its coattails. Most notably the undercover CIA agent slowly becoming disillusioned with the war, the governmental politics on both sides, his failed marriage etc...Even without all that its still a great film.
Highly recommended.
