Defiance
Who's watching this?
I enjoyed last week's first episode. I thnk it was two episodes in one. Can't remember.
The tone of this medium. By this I mean it's not BSG grim. It's not Star Trek/Bablyon 5/Stargate SG1/Atlantis light. It's somewhere down the middle.
Set in a world with several races populating Earth after an invasion. New towns exist where old ones used to and our drama is set in what was St Louis, but is now called Defiance. A town where many races live side by side. Cultural and racial differences seem to be the subject matters for a series like this plus a little political side shennanigans. All of this taking place slightly behind the main premise of new sheriff does sheriff work in a mixed alien world.
Going back to what I mentioned about race and culture, episode two has just opened up (watching it right now) with some dodgy traitor justice point. I wonder which point in time or current culture you think you can see an allegory towards? Ho ho ho.

Now that you come to mention it, even the initial scenes where you see landscape shots of the buggy-vehicle roaming around seemed like the tires weren't really making contact with the fake ground.jedispyder wrote:I saw the pilot and thought it was ok. Some of the CGI wasn't great in a few spots (like the car chase). I thought the plot was a good mix of other series. Haven't had a chance to see the new one yet but I will at some point.
Does some of the cast seem like they were imported from Dexter? You've got Julie Benz as the Mayor and the british woman from session 2 as the white alien mum.

Are you kidding me? She's Darla?
Brotherhood is an excellent show anyone should watch. It's a crime show about two brothers. One the local politician of an Irish neighbourhood, the other one a criminal returned from who knows where.Stocky Boy wrote:What are these other shows, Brotherhood and Sundance?
