The Hobbit Trilogy
Peter Jackson announced his 2 film adaptation of The Hobbit has been expanded to a trilogy. Is this a legitimate move to tell a better story or another excuse to drag out a movie over 3 years to sell more tickets? Only time will tell

I just find it funny that The Hobbit is shorter than the rest of the LotR books and it's somehow made into 3 movies while the rest had 1 each. Yet from what I read, he's partially creating a new story on top of the original Hobbit, incorporating characters from the movies into this movie even though the characters weren't in the book. It'll be interesting to see what his version ends up being.
All in all, I don't think it should be 3 movies.

Pippin? I saw Frodo and old Bilbo, but none of the rest. Is there a new trailer out?
I can't remember the Hobbit page per page, but if I recall correctly some elements from the book were only recounted by members of the group rather than told in the present. I think some of these will be told on the screen rather than narrated. After all, narration works better in a book and a TV show rather than film. For example, Gandalf splitting from the group in Mirkwood to meet with Radagast the Brown and then going... somewhere (forgot where)... and battling Thrain. I'm pretty sure he meets with Saruman as well to talk about a 'rustling evil' in the woods, which turns out to be Sauron and again, this is something Gandalf recounts to the other Hobbits, when he meets up with them again. It's never played out on screen so to speak.
Story points like the above probably adds quite a bit more to the overall running time.
