Devil by M. Night Shamalyan

M. Night has pretty much been branded as a hack due to the shoddy films he's released over the past several years: The Village, Lady in the Water, The Happening & Avatar: The Last Airbender (however, I thought The Happening wasn't *that* bad).
Shamalyan recently produced "Devil" a horror movie based on a story he wrote. Devil is a supernatural horror film and, without giving too much away, it's about several people who get trapped in an elevator and start dying one by one under obviously freakish circumstances.
As a fan of horror films I was initially very skeptical about this film given that it had Shamalyan's name all over it so I went in not expecting much of anything but I was pleasantly surprised at how decent it was. The actor's were very believable as they transitioned through several phases of emotions finally culminating in hysteria; the pacing was even enough and it didn't linger in any one area too long; the atmosphere was very tense and when something frightful was about to happen, you could feel yourself actually giving a damn about what was happening not just in the film but for the characters as well.
It's a decent enough horror film that I think many people would find enjoyable at the very least despite it having a few flaws. So if you want some cheesy horror entertainment I'd suggest you give this a whirl.
And if you still dislike it, ask M. Night for your money back. He will be glad to give it to you.
