After weeks of recent speculation, Deadline.com reported Monday evening that Zack Snyder has been chosen by Warner Bros. to direct the next Superman film.

The Hollywood Reporter stated that negotiations began earlier today. Christopher Nolan, director of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, is a producer on Superman, and had reportedly been considering a list of candidates including Snyder, Tony Scott and Duncan Jones.

I approve. I know for certain we'll at least get some action

Considering Zod's supposed to be the villain, I hope we'd get some action in the film. I'm kind of neutral on Snyder as the director, though I enjoyed Watchmen. Just kind of more interested in the story for a Superman film at this point than who's directing it because, like you said, I'd want some action in a Superman film.

Well, if it turns out anything like Snyder's previous films - 300, Watchmen - it's likely the film will be serviceable with lots of action in it.

So, not a bad choice in director, but you could have done better.

And see, with him, I suppose the worry could be 'will it be too much action' or will he still service the story that's needed for a Superman film. I think he did a good job servicing the story in Watchmen, whereas 300 was all about the action. I just hope he can find a way to service both because both need a lot of help.

Here we go, a 3 hour Superman movie because half of it will be bones snapping in slow motion... ;)
