So, reading this thread, I guess I'm the only one who though, while watching the post credit scene "Why the fuck is the Skrull red?". *

Do you mean purple instead of red? Since, you know, you'd expect him to be red given his name is Red Skull? ;)

Don't worry, there are a lot of other people who got confused by the identity. Even if I hadn't been spoiled automatically, the whole "courting Death" comment made me know exactly who it would be.

Yes. Dude, it was so obviously the big Marvel cosmic dude. Especially with what was said to him about courting certain people and all. It's a good fit for part 2, but it begs the question how they can top that villain for a third movie.

Also, shoarma is by far better than gyros.

I just saw it.
It could be the best popcorn big blockbuster I have ever seen.

Everything was great, I will try and post more when I'm not so tired.

Kang and Ultron makes sense for a third film.

I will say I think this is the best super hero movie done to date.
The Dark Knight was a better movie, but just not quite as a super hero movie. Anyone know what I mean?

I suppose so, it's basically the same argument Newsarama makes. As a movie, it definitely doesn't come close, but as a superhero non-stop action romp, it surpasses it by far.

I know what you both mean. I fully expect the upcoming Spiderman film to have a stronger, more emotional narrative, but for pure superhero action I think Avengers will be the better film.

It's kind of expected. A film with lots of cast members is more likely going to have all out action in it, when the solo films could concentrate more on the individual character journeys.

I finally saw the Avengers, this past Friday. After successfully avoiding spoilers for 4 weeks, I was so proud of myself. I go into the theater to take my seat and as were all waiting for the movie to start, some asshole a few rows in front me spoils the ending!!! I was so furious I wanted to take off my shoes and Iraqi Journalist style throw them at his head but I refrained.

I realize that after a certain period of time, spoilers don't apply but common courtesy dictates that you don't discuss specific details of a film while in the theater minutes before a film starts.

Regardless, it was a great film. I disliked Caps costume though, it just looked so terrible. The Hulk's looked changed. In this film he looked more like a savage brute; a little ape-like. I really preferred the look he had in 08 film.

Looking forward to seeing Spider-man (within a reasonable amount of time after it comes out). I agree that it will be a more emotional and deeper story than the first one. I suspect they might take it along the path of Nolan's Batman films and make it almost completely character driven.

I actually liked the ape like Hulk we got in this film. It felt like it fit the idea of a brute and wild type of man unleashed from within.

Yeah, I really liked the Hulk in this film.

The face was more neandethal and early Hulk like. I thought I wouldn't like this, but it worked. Also, if you look at some close up art of the Hulk, you can see grey hair, stubble and quite a bit of hair all over the body. They went to fucking town making him look realistically like a blown up human gone green.

Jesus, it's now the 3rd biggest movie in the history, behind Titanic and Avatar but ahead of all Star Wars or Harry Potter... Who would have thought that?

I expected it to be big this year, but I can't say I expected it to come in 3rd all time. I actually thought that Spider-Man would end up beating it at the box office solely because it's Spider-Man and it would have more of an appeal than Avengers. Now I'm wondering if Spider-Man can reach that!

Avengers, while an amazing film, did as well as it did, due in very large part to inflation. Ticket prices are now 3-4x what they were in the 90s; Regular tickets are between $10-$15. IMAX & 3-D are $20-$30.

Titanic made its total box office haul after 9-12 months in theatres charging a third of the price.

Your bubble has been burst!

I'm fairly certain that the gross is adjusted for inflation on those lists isnt it? That's the entire reason Titanic has never been topped.

Yeah, it is. If you adjust for inflation there are way, way bigger movies than those 3.
Gone With the Wind beats everything by a couple hundred million, followed by Star Wars episode 1.
