Montreal Comic Con!
So Friday, I was working the show booth, helping sell T-Shirts, autograph tickets, etc.
Not much happened Friday outside of me getting on sketch lists, getting the George Perez sketch, and walking around.
Friday I arranged with Darwyn Cooke to bring him lunch again, and he agreed to do a couple sketches for me, free of charge. He loves Montreal Smoked meat it seems.
I also dropped off the sketch covers for Craig Yueng, which he did for $20 each. Best price of the show, by far.
Saturday I ended doing sitting for the autographs for Patrick Stewart and William Shatner, along with Laura Vadervoort briefly. That was pretty fun. It was interesting watch them work. I got a coupe autographs from each, and a photo with Shatner. Stewart doesn’t really do any photos outside the photo ops.
I also brought Darwyn his lunch, and got my Shadow cover. He told me this could be a regular thing whenever he is in Montreal. I’ll bring him Schwartz, and he’ll do me another member of the Batman family.
Stewart did sign my chess set from X-Men 2, which was awesome. I also got the autograph from Laura that day.
Saturday I was invited by some of the media guys to go to a show Saturday night, which was two twin brothers covering singers, 1 brother did men, the other women. Malcolm McDowell had caught the first act the night before, so we were all going back for the second act. Malcolm had arranged to get up on stage and do the Singing in the Rain number from a Clockwork Orange. It was awesome. It was Malcolm, myself, the person who invited me and two others. It was awesome.
Before that I had to meet them at the “My Two Captains” show with Stewart and Shatner, which I caught the tail end of. I watched from back stage, and those two guys are pretty damn funny.
Sunday was more of the same, plus picking up sketches. Stewart was 2.5 hours late to his first signing, and we ended up returning a bunch of tickets. Supposedly to go buy new luggage.
I noticed 1 big thing with the big name guests. They do whatever they want, fuck the schedule, fuck the people in line, they don’t care.
Shatner did the same thing Saturday, the only day he was there for. Some poor guy came for an autograph, in his tux, since he had to go straight to his sister’s wedding after, and had to leave before Shatner showed up.
I didn’t really get a chance to shop, at all outside of 2 silver age X-Men comics. I now need 1 left to complete my run. Uncanny X-Men 88. I could easily get it off the internet, but I may wait and try and buy it at a show.
That was kind of stream of consciousness, I may try and elaborate later.

I got stuff signed since it was free and I had the opportunity.jedispyder wrote:Yeah, when they get as popular as those 2 are they tend to just do whatever the hell they want. Sometimes it screws fans but the fans always come back. I've had a couple of friends have bad experiences with horror celebs yet they keep going back to get stuff signed from them, lol.
After seeing these guys work, there isn't a chance I would ever stand in lie and pay for it.
It was very unprofessional.

Edmonton Expo this weekend, http://edmontonexpo.com/.
It was put together in 3 months by the guys who run the Calgary show.
I may drive up for an afternoon.
It's a 3 hour drive each way, but it's something to do.

London Expo this weekend too. http://www.londonexpo.com/
As per usual they don't put the comic signing times, days and people up until the last minute or simply not at all.
Thankfully not a 3 hour drive to get to. Generic journey into London.
