I don't think Junk is pissed, I think he just enjoys the arguing. Perhaps not about this specific topic, but debating in general seems to be a niche of his.

I didn't misinterpret Meek.

Absurd is hardly the word to describe people voicing that they would rather most of the board be a bit more average person friendly. There is a desire to change. It's not strong arming. We raised a thread, we haven't gone and charged ahead with change.

The board should be what people want it to be - it's clear not everyone wants to feel threads all over the board are going to be derailed with toilet humour.
It never was as fine as either you or Meek suggest it was.

This is an extention of the 'New Start' thread. I think we've both exhausted our discussion on this topic.

Andy, to be fair, the hot topic of the moment is the "new start" thread so snippets of feelings intended for that thread are bound to show up elsewhere, especially in a topic such as this which is a direct spin-off of "New Start."

Like, you know the Griffins will show up in The Cleveland Show. Same thing.

On a side note. How is it, that when people form lists of this place, casting calls, goodbyes, etc, I am never on them? Ever.

I mean, I was here in the beginning, post whoring with Arn and M. I think I was even a mod.

I am extremely, extremely sad that Meek has decided not to join us here on these boards. He was one of my very best online friends and I had a helluva time hanging with him during the Con, and I intend to keep in regular contact with him on facebook and such.

I also wish Meek nothing but the absolute very best in his future endeavors. But I still hold out hope that Meek will one day return and join us here on these new boards, and that if he does return (along with anyone else who has vanished for their own reasons) we can look beyond personal differences and welcome him/them back with open arms.

Lastly, I truly hope no one else decides to leave; I enjoy all of your company immensely. I enjoy discussing, debating and most of all laughing with you all. Whatever issues we seem to have, let us please try to resolve them peaceably so as to not lose any other BXers.

In closing...DON'T GO! I HAVE ABANDONMENT ISSUES (seriously)!

A number of points:

1. I contacted the mang himself to get the thruth, and it pains me to learn that it really did happen, and that he's done for the time being with Basement X/Board X/Jedi Council type message boarding, and sticking to Facebook/Myspace/Cell Phones and the like. Luckily I still ahve one of my closest friends from this board that way. If it wasn't for new social networking, I'd be vastly more upset than I already am about this.

2. While I am a Hal Jordan supporter, I know for a FACT that meek? himself would be hella pissed that you just equated him with that character. He'd NEVUH let that go down at all! So While that inside joke made me laugh, I know he wouldn't react as well, and end with something along the lines of "Hell na sun, cause Hal Poordan's a whiny puss, and meek? sho' as hll ain't, fo' sho'" or some such thing.

3. If Junk leaves because of all of this, I'll be very very upset because he too is one person who I greatly greatly enjoy on this board, from his ability to run rings with ShadowMan to his constant humor, gutter mind and everything else. Like Kid said, I've grown close to all of you and look at you as people, not usernames and avatars, and having people leave is like having a friend walk away, similar to what happened here. Which brings me to:

4. How very very very upset I am that those of you who did turned this thread into an extension of your goddamned Fresh Start bullshit. I'm fucking tired of it by now and the tension it's creating everywhere, and for someone to send their goodbye here and have the thread almost immediately become a 'If it wasn't for this..' and 'you dont' know he did it because of that' and 'why are you still here' fucking bullshit. I'm seriously, seriously angry at how quickly THIS particular thread went off topic into that shit.

We go through this almost every other goddamned year, and people always get sick of each other for a time, and things still never change. WHY do we always have to do this?

And like I said, I'm very upset that meek? has decided to take some time off, but I understand his real reasons for doing so. He's got a lot he wants to do and accomplish, and he needs to take the time to do so. I'm proud of him for doing it.

Actually that farewell post has a lot to do with the "Fresh Start" thread and is primarily why he wrote it. If you don't believe me, you should carefully reread the preamble to the main post. Again, I'm not trying to pull an "I told you so" or anything like it really makes any difference, but he clearly does agree with my stance on the issue about changing the board. So I didn't want Stocky to distort the truth and make it seem like he had some kind of balanced outlook on this whole "clean up the boards" hysteria. I obviously can't speak for the guy, but I think it's fair to say that he's much more inline with my stance on the issue. I refuse to let his opinion get dampened down like that. So if that offends you, Ed, I'm sorry. But Stocky doing that offended me; so I responded.

At the moment all I can say for certain about Junky is that he's very spirited. ^_^ When I asked why he was still here I was asking a question that I thought needed to be posed.
