Well, wasn't this a big disappointment!

In a comicbook I'd rather read a comic, not complete issues of prose.

XIII apparently sports numerous boner's for this book.

What the hell is this, anyway?
What makes it the black dossier

I really enjoyed it, and thought the whole thing was great.

The only portion I didn't care for was the beatnik/jazz prose section, but that was simply because it was really hard to understand. I liked the story, and I'm eager for his follow ups.

Isn't LoEG III set to come out soon? Next few months? with 3 72 page issues?

I too was a bit dissapointed with the lengthly prose sections.

Overall, I much enjoyed it. To really enjoy it, you have to be very well read about the literature that it borrows from.

Black Dossier is basically LoEG III. It picks up after the second one.

I have yet to read any of the LoEG books. But they are on my eventual "to buy" and "to read" list

Me too. I have it all, vol I, vol II, Black Dossier but haven't started on it yet.
Also, I don't have a boner for it, it's just that my retailer saw an opportunity to satisfy his customer's hunger for LoEG even though it's forbidden to sell outside North America.

Also, the next book is LoEG: Century, first issue coming out in April from an indie publisher which I can't remember.

Avatar Comics?
That's LoEG v. 4, indeed. I want to get that, but I first need to get past this Black Dossier. Couldn't really appreciate the story, but than, I skipped the prose.

There's an awful lot of H.P Lovecroft in it, which I know precious little about.

I know Chtulu, or whichever spelling that gets. But that's pretty much it.

What's with everyone and Lovecraft? I'm not into that stuff at all. :(

He's a good writer, and I guess if you're into horror and the shit, THE writer.

Me neither. I've got a book with tales of Lovecraft, mainly because I wanted to try him out. I think I'm stuck on page 20 or so.

I think it's in Smoke and Mirrors that Neil Gaiman wrote a short story that deals with stuff Lovecraft-related. It's the only short story from the book that I couldn't finish.

I can't stand him either.

That's three of us which leads me to the following conclusion : Lovecraft is overrated!
