Astounding Wolf-Man volume 2 (spoilers)
Another great read by Kirkman and co. Some of Zechariah's history is revealed and Wolf-man encounters the one who turned him into a Wolf.
Also, there is a quick meet-up/team-up with Invincible.
More later.

Within the second volume, some of Zech's past was revealed, who he was before he became a vampire, how he became one and what he did afterwards. Obviously there is more to his past than what was just revealed.
Meanwhile the police believe that Gary had killed his wife and have been searching for him ever since with one particular agent after him. Since his wife's death, Gary been on the run. He eventually made it back to the forest where he was first bitten and met the creature who turned him into a werewolf - who sought out so he can train under him.
Back at home, Gary's daughter has sought out Zechariah in order to have him find Gary so she can kill him. Zech, the manipulative a-hole that he is, is letting her believe that Gary killed his wife and is possibly offering to turn her into a vampire as well.
Wolf-man is turning out to be more enjoyable than Invincible. Where Invincible didn't really take off until the second or 3rd trade, Wolf-man has been fun since the first issue. Kirkman had Gary train under a vampire, and werewolf. I imagine Hampton will soon both sides of the vampire/werewold war from people on both sides of the conflict. Hampton's original mentor is turning out be an even bigger asshole than before is another nice twist. Whereas murdering his wife could be understood as an accident, lying to Gary's daughter and offering to turn her into a vampire is pure doucheyness.
I was most surprised that Kirkman introduced us to Gary's "father". Though I felt it was a little early for it, I'll trust Kirkman's judgement. The team-up with Invicible was nice as well, but I hope in the future, Kirkman won't do too many more crossovers.
The art is very cartoony, and at first I judged it too harshly, but I quickly grew to love it; it only adds to the fun of the title.

So here are my huge likes:
1) Mark and Atom are finally going out. Finally! I've been waiting for them to start dating since the first volume. They go together much better than Mark and Amber. While I hope they have a long and glorious relationship togehter, I don't see it lasting too long because Mark has too much to deal and has already cancelled on her a few times. Granted she's been understanding but I forsee it going downhill from there as Mark becomes more emotionally strained.
2) I finalyl have a hero whose black and white view of justice I can agree with. Mark learned of Cecil hiring criminals Mark had brought to justice earlier and he flipped out, but he contained himself. He made his case and when it wasn't going to go down the way he wanted it to, it came to a head. I'm am 100% in agreement with Mark on this. A former murderer and sadist shouldn't be on the government's payroll without paying for their crimes. Granted they're probably much more productive helping Steadman than rotting away behind bars.
The one thing that resounded with me the most with this series was that Kirkman doesn't employ the use of lazy or shitty writing. In the moments leading up to the battle between Invincible and Steadmen, Invincible told Robot (and his teamates) what Steadman had done. In probably every other circumstance 95% og other writers would half-ass it and have Invincible say "Theres not time to explain" or "its complicated" or purposely create a misunderstanding that wouldn't get resolved for many, many issues which would end with Invincible becoming an outcast.
Writers are notrious for utilizing this type of lazy writing style. Not Kirkman. Kirkman had Mark lay out his problems with Steadman in front of his former teamates and Steadman responded with a big "I did what I have to do to keep this world safe and I won't apologize for it so Fuck You". With their problems out in the open, both sides knew exactly what was happening and made their choices. Something we hardly ever see in comics nowdays. I applaud Kirkman for this.
P.S. Mark's younger brother is a cold blooded killer.
