I would only reccomend Loveless if you
a) Like Azzerallo's work
or
b) Like Westerns
or
c) Want to try something wholly different.
Loveless is a brutal revenge story that takes place in the reconstruction era immediately following the American Civil War.
I liked Loveless myself not just because it was a western (though that certainley helped) but because it was very well written, the art fit the mood, time and style of the story perfectly and Azzerallow didn't cop out and paint the South as evil slave owners and the north as white knights riding in as liberators to free the slaves.
Just like with 100 Bullets, there were several subplots that were taking shape while the main story was being told.
The only problem is that since the title got cancelled, Azzerallo was forced to wrap up the series early so the ending seems a bit rushed. Major subplots get resolved in one of the last issues, however, the absolute last issues deal with the fallout of Blackwater indirectly, so it isn't all that bad.

CC, I don't know if you'd be able to enjoy this title, given some of the things that happen during the series. Not knowing your particular tastes or your sensibilties, I don't know what would offend you and as such wouldn't reccomend this to you in good conscience without giving you a few more things to consider before you drop money on the book.
Loveless is violent and bloody. Like many Vertigo titles, the violence is graphic with a few scenes centering around gang rape, torture and humiliation.
Just thought you should know about the title's more unsavory bits before you went out and brought it.

I appreciate that Wally, thank you. I've found that while Preacher doesn't ring my bell, I get where it's coming from. I'm actually a fan of horror flicks. I like a good violent, bloody romp but not if it's the whole story.
Tell you what, I'll flip through the first volume at the comic book store and if I don't like it, I'll put it back. Thanks. ^_^
