The Haunt

Post by Mr Wallstreet »

Has anyone picked this up?

It's Kirkman's latest project that he co-created with Todd McFarlane.

You say Todd McFarlane and that's enough for me NOT to touch this.

This was talked about on Paul O'Brien and Al Kennedy's latest podcast.

Don't remember them having too much negative to say about the story. Al's convinced the character design is a rip off of Venom. I kind of see his point, but see a skull in the costume design more readily than Venom.

The character does bear huge similarties to Venom.

I picked up Haunt and after reading it, all I can say is that its really to early to judge. It's a story done a hundred times before but since its only the 1st issue it could go either way.

There was one semi-interesting plot twist within the story but that was it. Most of the issue was pretty bland.

Also, being a fan of Kirkman's work, there is a certain style to the art within Kirkman's books that I associate wholly with Kirkman. Seeing some of McFarlane's handiwork in the book's art doesn't really do it for me.

I'll give this book a try. One storyline, two at the most but after that I'll drop it if it doesn't wow me.

And speaking of dropping books, I'm strongly considering dropping Greek Street.

Greek Street's second arc will have to wow me, because otherwise I'm gone as well.

Greek Street already did that.

I barely made it through the first issue, and from what you guys says, I am happy I didn't bother powering on.

Haunt so far seems alright, need to re-read the first issue. it started a lot faster than his normal series.

I also see a shit-load of similarities in art and design to venom.

Having become such a big fan of Kirkman I had some ridiuclously high expectations of Haunt. I was expecting it to knock my socks off with the opening page and follow it up with page after page of sheer awesomeness. Seriously.

Now that I'm back on planet earth, I can give it a second re-read and see how I really feel about it.
