The DC "Co Features" / Back Up Strips

Post by Stocky Boy »

Anyone know for certain what's happening with these?

I'm tempted to get Doom Patrol volume 1, by Keith Giffen. I picked up the first issue, and I found it to my taste. Nothing special, but pretty solidly entertaining. However, The Metal Man strip in the back was awesome!

I want that Metal Man strip!

I don't know how they are going to be collected. Apparently, some books this year will have new co-features, while others will lose theirs.

Yea, the Co-Features are still pretty mysterious. Maybe they'll add the Metal Men to the Doom Patrol trade, or maybe they'll make a DCU Heroes Trade that features most of the Co-Features. We really don't knonw yet.

Green Arrow is losing it's Co-Feature as Black Canary moves back to Birds of Prey, And I think Rucka said that the Question will stay in Detective. Other than that I'm not sure.

It sounds like most of the Co-Features are going to be from that Red Line thingy that JMS re-started up. Basically a way to introduce new characters to people who won't be buying the series no matter what. Meh. Could be wrong...

An Update!!!!

From the DCU Source Blog:

http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/2010/02/10/take-a-look-at-the-dcu-collected-editions-for-fall-2010/#more-7423

A list of the Collected Edtions coming out in the Fall of 2010, and I noticed something that got me excited:

MANHUNTER: FACE OFF TP
Writer: Marc Andreyko
Artists: Georges Jeanty, Jeremy Haun, Cliff Richards and others
Collects: Stories from BATMAN: THE STREETS OF GOTHAM #1-13
$17.99 US, 128 pg

Manhunter Kate Spencer has been the back up in Streets of Gotham since it kick started, and it looks here that all her back ups are getting collected together. Now, I didn't look back at everything, but I did notice this as well:

BLUE BEETLE: BLACK AND BLUE TP
Writers: Will Pfeiffer and Matthrew Stuges
Artists: David Baldeon, Carlo Barberi, Mike Norton, Steve bird and others
Collects: BLUE BEETLE #27-28 and stories from BOOSTER GOLD #21-25 and 28-29
$17.99 US, 168 pg

Its possible that will have full Boster Gold issues, since he and Beetle have kind of become co stars rather than just having a co-feature at times from what I've noticed, but at that price I don't see that being very likely. It appears that many of the co-features will get their own trades, or at the very least, the more popular ones. I'm very happy to hear this.

I'm not really a fan of co-features or backup stories. Never really bothered to read em as they don't really appeal to me.
