First issue was pretty good. The series isn't exactly new-reader friendly as you had to have read Battle for the Cowl, Heart of Hush and probably every other major Bat-event of the past year and a half to understand the things Selina was talking about in the first few pages. i.e getting her heart ripped out by Hush.

Beyond that shaky start the issue was very good. It had a solid story to it and the art is pretty evenly cheesecakey. Dini is a strong understanding of Ivy, Harley & Selina; how they think, talk, act & react and as a result the flow of their interaction was smooth and natural.

One other thing that didn't sit too well with me was towards the end where The Broker made that throwaway joke implying the Madhatter was a pedophile. Dini did something similar in Streets of Gotham where he briefly used child prostituion as a very small plot point. Not trying to be nit-picky or prudish but I'd just as soon rather not read about how child prostitution and pedophilia are written about in mainstream comics in such a trivial manner.

I wouldn't have a problem with the writers giving the adult characters healthy sex lives and every thing else but the stuff about the kids -- well leave it out of mainstream comics. A better place to write about that stuff intelligently would be in Vertigo. Given the adult nature of its titles, the jokes and storylines would be more appropriate there.

But thats just me.
