OMFG! That was such a kick ass story!
None of the announcing who the aggressors were and declaring war - then fighting. Sinestro hit the Lanterns fast and hard without letting up not mention recruiting some of the strongest villains this side of Krypton: Hank Henshaw, Superboy Prime, The Anti-Monitor, & Parallax. Sinestro hit them in strategic locations using lethal force and was also smart enough to sow seeds of doubt in the minds of a few of the important lanterns.
Further Siniy counted on the Guardians douchery and dickery to do the complete opposite of what they should have done by addressing the Blackest Night Prophecy head on rather than burning the f'ing pages out all the while he extracted Ion from Kyle and replaced it with Parallax.
So many Lanterns massacred in a short period of time and while the Lanterns were trying to hold the front line, the bickering posturing within the Guardians reached a Zenith when they re-wrote their own book and banished Ganthet and Sayd which was another dick move. It's disappointing to see that the Guardians reacting in a manner similar to the one which made them almost as extinct as the dodo.
Possibly the best battle scene was the Battle of Mogo. A handful of Lanterns sent to protect one of the most important Lantern's in the corp. While protecting Mogo, the Lost Lanterns lose two of their own only to find the Anti-Monitor torturing Ion.
This was a non-stop, fantastic read!

SEEE!!!!!!! Just wait till you get to the conclusion!!!!
really glad you enjoyed it though! Sinestro Corps War Special one shot was by far the single best comic I think I read that entire year. From the freeing of Prime all the way up to Kyle becoming Paralax and then the Anti-Monitor.. it was a wild adrenaline rush from page to page.

Superboy Prime is such a twat. "Heh. Stupid Earth" I really hope he gets his face smashed in. I was really surprised to see the Anti-Monitor among Sinestro's corp. Didn't that guy's entire existence dwarf Sinestro's entire corp.? Still a good addition.
The Sinestro war really had a sense of brutalality and finality about it. Ever since Rebirth, the Guardians had been working to rebuild everything and to see how quickly it began to fall apart was pretty dissapointing. Most of all I am dissapointed in the Guardians themselves.
Once again, the very existence of the Green Lanterns is at risk and the Guardians aren't taking it seriously. The way the Sinestro corp. just kept hacking away at the Lanterns was unreal. They were so well organized and powered that they began following the GL rings from person to person and killing the next person who got the rings.
I assume with Ganthet and Sayd banished, they are going to form their own corp.?

I don't want to give anything away, but while Prime does get dealt with, we know it's not the end of him as he's in Legion of Three Worlds right now.
As for the Anti-Monitor.. just wait and see what happens with him.
And Ganthet and Sayd.. I'll say yes, but you basically find out which one at the end of the story, so I won't say which one.
You'll see how the Gaurdians continue to never take any of the Lanterns warnings seriously, most notably those from Earth, and how it will constantly put the Corps in danger after the War and leading into Blackest Night.

I've come to enjoy Superboy/man Prime, from Infinite Crisis thru the Lantern Saga and beyond into Legion of 3 Worlds. Johns really crafted him into a villain you initially wanted to sympathize with at times, then downright despise because of what he does and how he acts. I've yet to see anyone else really use him enjoyably, as he wasn't used well in Countdown but elsewhere I've liked him. I'm curious if he'll finally be put to an end here at the finale to Lo3W or if we'll see him in Blackest Night. He's an amazing opposite to the regular Superboy, and I (of course) love the fact that he's terrified of the Flashes.
