Another fantastic story by Simone.

Achilles who spent the last several issues acting as a puppet and overall jerk for Dick God Zeus displayed some real heroics and selflessness here.

Towards the end of the story Zeus admitted to being a dick of Olympian proportions and we find out that Ares had magically impregnated 5 women on Paradise Island who all gave birth in secret during the final battle. The kids look like really fucked versions from the kids from Children of the Corn

Glad you're still enjoying Gail's run on WW. I will admit tho, that I felt it started to decline a little around here until the end. Rise of the Olympian was just a huge opus and everything after was still great, but in comparison wasn't as good.

You can tell that around here, she's been offered Birds of Prey again and has begun planning on that as her storytelling seems to be missing a little of something. Her last storyline was my least favorite, but everything up till there was great.

Really? I really felt like WarKiller was a great end to a story she'd been crafting for almost a year. It had a everything I was looking for in a conclusion to a story. There was a moral quandry, an unsure character who made a decision to make a stand against his creator & an epic showdown involving the entire cast.

Wondy found herself in a no-win situation, the Olympian found the strength to challenge his father Zeus, the final showdown included almost the entire cast (Paradise Island Amazons, the Apes, Tom & Donna Troy). And even after all that there was still loss & a threat looming in the future: Tom Tresser rejected Wondy as his mate because she lied to him & Ares took the children born to the Amazons.

I daresay that Grant Morrisson could stand to learn something from Simone's writing. Especially when it involves a story that spans a year. Not every story has to be written in 10 degrees of weirdness and a plot so convuluted it takes a whole panel to explain it.

Simone's WW story & ending were plain and simple, and a lot of times those are the best kinds.

There was

I don't mean this was necessarily the lesser of her stories, but I mean from about here on out.

By no means did I mean it was bad writing, but meant that to me it wasn't as good as Rise of the Olympian. When she was on WW, Simone did not write a bad story at all, and I loved reading the book every month because she's a fantastic writer and perfect fit on the book.

What I meant I suppose was that it wasn't as good as the previous story to me. And as you get to the next two stories, I think you'll notice what I mean about er stories kind of fall just below her previous ones as she wraps up the entire run.
