Wonder Woman: The Circle

Simone writes some great Wonder Woman shiz.

I read The Circle last night and was very impressed with Simone's handling of Wonder Woman on her first outing.

I myself have never picked up a montly Wonder Woman title before in my life. The only Wondy graphic novel I've ever read was The Hiketia (and that was average in my pov). My knowledge of Wonder Woman is also limited; I know the basics about her and the only exposure I had to WW on a regular basis was during the previous JLA run and any other time she guest starred here or there. I also know a little more about WW given that I read FC.

Probably the best thing about Simone's story was the way she just started telling a new WW story without worrying all the continuity and the mess Heinberg & Piccoult made. Simone still had to work within the confines of the relaunch: WW as a Meta Human agent who is powerless in her human guise but that was about it & the missing Amazons but that was about it.

The story was brilliant and funny with plenty of action. Simone also pulled out something fresh in her debut storyline concerning Hippolyta as well as laying the foundations for WW pissing off her Goddesses and having to contend with that in the future.

So all in all, I liked it and would strongly reccomend it not just because of how good the quality is but more importantly, with just a few background facts, its easy to get into for first-timers.

Simone has truly been writing a fantastic WW series since she started. Her first arc was only shakey and less than stellar because of all the problems that had come before it, and she had really untangle and fix a lot in that first storyline.

Since then, she's woven stories together, where one quickly bleeds into the next and they've been exciting and fun from day one. Lopresti's art has been a great constant on the book as well. He may not be an all star or huge name, but he's consistant, clear, and has really given a great look to the Wonder Woman line.

Two Huge thumbs up to Simone on Wonder Woman, all the way up to today.
