Trinity: vol 1

I liked it!

Busiek writes a great story using the trio. He compares and contrasts their personalities, abilities and skills wonderfully. He describes their relationship to each other and the effect they have on the morale of other heroes, though sometimes it comes off a bit heavy handed. Bagley's art is a nice touch here. He brings brevity and a sense of lightness to the story. Its so easy to draw Batman as dark, brooding and anal. Bagley goes for a slightly different approach. By drawing his costume, I don't know a bit lighter, and keeping most of Batman's dickishness, the effect isn't so bad.

However the story isn't without its flaws. As mentioned earlier, Busiek comments on the effect these 3 have on the super hero population at large. The younger heroes look to the trio for guidance. Supes, Wondy and Bats peers look to them for support and aid. However, there were more than a few times when seeing the other heroes wet themselves with excitement at the sight of the Supes, Wondy & Bats that made me roll my eyes.

Bagely's art is a nice touch here, but again as mentioned in another thread, he needs to focus on drawing Wonder Woman as a Woman and not a young girl. I don't mind at all that artists have different interpretations of what characters look like but drawing Wondy as a brunette teenage Mary Jane makes Diana look weak and weird; especially when she's standing with Superman and Batman.

Overall a good story. Looking forward to the next volume

That's cause Bagley's women tend to all look the same.
