When will Green Lantern: Agent Orange be availble in softcover?

It hasn't been said yet. I just looked over the DC site for you, and July is All of the Blackest Night Hardcovers, and we just got Secret Origin in softcover Feb/Mar. Rage of the Red Lanterns is next due in Softcover I believe, followed by Agent Orange. Now, i doubt they'll be out during July, and I don't recall seeing them solicited during the May/June timeframe but it is possible DC will want to pump as many GL lead in trades before the BN hardcover hits.

So you're looking at something around June-August. Though it's even possible it may even be September. Or I could be completely wrong and it could hit in April.

A softcover is generally available roughly a year or so after the hardcover is released.

haha usually yes, but their Final Crisis Softcover is hitting in July-August I think, and the Hardcover was around December-January, so it may be as short as 6 months, especially with the big upcoming GL push.

How much does the average hardcover run these days, as opposed to the actual issues?

So the year for a softcover is +1 years from the last issue hitting the stand?

I know a couple CBS that would have the old issues in their dollar bins in that time frame.

Hardcovers? i suppose it always depends on the number of issues in it, and how big of a story.

Sinestro Corps War vol. 1 and 2 are about $25 a piece, where as Final Crisis is about $30 at least. I dont think I've ever seen much over 30 unless it's an omnibus really, or delux edition.

I'd say that Softcovers are around $10 less, but is there a reason that it's still about $30 for the Secret Invasion Softcover? It's the ONLY reason I have yet to get it myself, being that it's still so expensive.

That surprises me, as $30 is more expensive than what the 6 issues would cost, for the average trade. Especially if your store has a decent (20%) discount for comics.

Why even buy them, then? The hardcovers that is.

Hardcovers I sometimes get for bigger events and things I really liked. Normally they throw in a lot of sketch pages, creator interviews/commentary, all multiple print covers, etc.

I know FC Hardcover has 9 books in it (1-7 of the main FC, and 2 tie ins), all at 4 bucks each, so it's just under cover price. Others I have no idea.

Secret Invasion is 8 Issues, again I'm guessing at $4, so at 30 it seems pretty pricey to me.

My shop has a 10% or 20%, but you have to pay X amount at the beginning of your 'year'. I had to pay $10 to get a 10% discount on everything for a full year. In the long run it pays off since I read a lot. I get 10 back withing a month really. And for the 20 you pay so much and get a Previews subscription, but I didn't want that so I didn't go for it.

My old shop was a 10% for everyone who had a pull list. Then we stopped doing that and gave it to specific people who were longtime customers, loyal buyers, and large pull lists. I got a 25% When I started working there. Still do on occasions when I stop in sometimes.

You have one of the oddest discount systems I have ever sen. Most stores I see offer a straight up percentage (10-25) or scale it from 10-25 based on how many comic you get.

If I only got 10% I'd find a new store, but thats me.

Well, the town I'm in now is small enough that there is only one store. And my hometown is the same. But, there are very few people who read over 20 books a month. When you're reading only, 5-10, 10% is a decent amount. Someone like me, who's used to reading 20-25.. it's not amazing, but it helps a little.

It's even worse since I used to get all my books for free for 7 years. It's impossible for me to cut books after reading them for so long, simply because the budget hurts to get some of them, but I've started chipping away.

Makes sense with only 2 stores then I guess.

I'm chipping away too, mostly though because I am getting sick of these big events after big events where nothing really ever happens.

What do the rest of you guys get for a discount?

I get hardcover because they look nice and clean on the shelf. And they are easier to track down than single issues (exemple: I'm getting Preacher, Starman, Y in HCs).

Now, you ask me why the HC when the books are available in regular TPB which are much cheaper. Well, it's cause the HC is often oversized and I like my books oversized.

Though I do follow also series in SC, like Captain America or Jack of Fables.

My old comic store used to give me a 20% discount because I'd been a customer there for 7 years. Since it closed, I started getting my books from one of the comic shops in Manahttan; not a franchise place like Midtown, Jim Hanley's or Forbidden Planet but another decent sized shop thats about 3 blocks from where I work.

Typically during summer months (June - Aug) they will have offer a 30% discount on all items all the time. During the regular months everytime you spend over a $100 they will give you $20 worth of store credit. Both Midtown & Jim Hanley's offer the latter deal.

None of the shops that I know of offer a discoutn for pre-ordering HC's or SC's. I've only ever seen that offered through Amazon or Barnes & Noble.

I at least eased myself into it before moving so it wouldn't be a huge hit to me. I'd been actually buying Buffy and Angel since they came out, and slowly I started buying about 2 or 3 books every Wednesday, then getting the rest for free on Saturday. Just depended on what came out. But that way I eased back into paying money.

Now tho, I'd KILL to have that job back.

I don't get any discount whatsoever at my local shop as they don't make enough turnover and don't have enough client to be able to do discount.
But my HCs I get mostly from Amazon so I get their usual 33% discount. Then I get the "discount" from the dollar/euro ratio and that alltogether makes for a nicely affordable price for HCs.
