If I drop DareDevil, which has been straddling the fence for several long months, I plan to replace it Scalped based on XIII's love affair with Jason Aaron at the Con. I can't really remember if Stocky or Wulf gave it glowing reviews as well or if they just kept getting issues autographed by Aaron for the hell of it.
But before I jump in, lets have it: How good is Scalped?

Northlander, Scalped, and DMZ are all awesome.
Northlanders is the only one that can be read issue to issue.
Scalped and DMZ should be done by trades or story arcs.
I'd recommend DMZ before Scalped, though.
All are great comics.

I think I might like Scalped a bit better though. I read a very general overview about it: A native returns to his reservation and becomes a lawman of sorts. The Aaron combines the genre of noir with western. As I'm a big fan of both this does seem more appealing...

It is picking between 2 very good comics, so you can't really go wrong.

I've got the first tpb of DMZ here but I haven't read it yet. Time to move it to the top of the pile.

I know I picked Northlanders and you picked DMZ one day. Truth to be told, we have a lot of stuff to read. You still have Preacher to finish.
(Stoney wasn't much a graphic novel kinda guy until a year ago. I've delighted in educating him.) ^_^

Oh yeah. I bought the first trade of DMZ at the con.
I don't know when to start reading stuff!

Did you read all of Watchmen? The pirate zombie comic within and the back page material like the magazine interviews?
First time round was hard reading for me.

Yes. The back page writing and comic interview is what stopped me from my first 2 attempts. I skipped the back page stuff this time and read it after the 12 comics.
The pirate comic was fucked up.
What is with moore and pirate comics?

Scalped and DMZ are both awesome and come highly recommended. Also you should read Scalped cause it would make you even more jealous of my flask.

I found it a hard read the first time around as well. >.< Loved the pirate comic woven through the story though.

I gotta say, I've never had a bad recommendation for tbps from anyone here. I think Stocky and Mic have consistently suggested awesome titles.
Adam picked up Batman Year 100 the other day because someone somewhere else recommended it. I haven't read it, the art alone makes me wary. O.o

Batman Year 100 is actually pretty good. But the art is indeed an acquired taste.
I've not read the back parts of Watchmen until my third reading. It does add to the story and world of Watchmen, but not reading it doesn't diminish the tale.

Is that the one with that atrocious Paul Pope art?

Why does Batman look like a wrinkly, squished toad and everyone else look like Mick Jagger? Did Pope apprentice with Quitely or something?

*busts knuckles*
This thread is SO going to get BLOODY.
Paul Pope is a TERRIFIC writer/artist.
CC, you've just made it very clear you know nothing when it comes to comics art and from now on, you don't exist to me anymore.

Yeah, nevermind that Wally agrees the art sucks, take it all out on me. That's awesome.

Please, Wally has been dead to me for so many years comics-wise, that I stopped reading his posts a long time ago.
