Len Wein, creator of X-Men staples like Wolverine, Storm, and Nightcrawler, survived a house fire that destroyed about half of his home, as well as original art from WOLVERINE and GIANT-SIZED X-MEN worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. Author Harlan Ellison posted this today on his web site:
Very tragic occurance and not even because of the loss of the original art, but because losing one's home is nothing short of devastating. A home isn't just a place where you hang your hat at the end of your day, but its also your sanctuary, a place where you create memories.
Thankfully though Wein and his family were not hurt. His dog was not so lucky.
