it's been a while since i've inventoried my collection, and just wondering what program, if any, you guys used to keep track of your inventory?

Not a programm but a website : http://www.comicbookdb.com

I know Dutchie has a software he illegally downloaded that is pretty good but I can't remember the name.

Of course, if Dutchie were nice, he would send us all a mail with the .exe file of the software.

When I find the zip-file I'll upload it. But I think iot's a very impractical program. Of course, I've hardly ever used it.

I really never have inventoried my collection as a whole. I had at one point issues I needed of certain series but I always end up having to make a new one before a con or something. Inventory on the whole thing would take some time but probably pay off in the long run for me I suppose. Maybe over the summer.

Excel Spreadsheet.
Title - Publisher - Issue - Notes.

I have never found a program that actually has all my comics in it's database.

Insurance. Do it for insurance alone.

In the version of Excel I've got at work, ther's a maximum row setting of around 66,300. How long do you reckon it will take you to reach that figure? :D

Plus, in that version of Excel, one pivot table later with that much data and everything goes into slooooooow mode.

I'm in the same boat as Tragic. I never inventoried my books, plus, I don't really have that many books. I've got a bookshelf full of trades but not really a whole lot of monthlies.

I've got 12.5 long boxes full of books, so that's about 300 books a box.. I don't know how much time I could do it. Plus, i've thought about insuring them but I dont' know if I can afford to at this point.

Your house insurance might cover them, depending on cost. They will however, want a list.

I very much suggest calling them and asking.

It is worth doing. If they are organized in the boxes, it doesn't take too long. Copy and paste for all 400 issues of UXM, then punch in numbers!

Hmm I'll have to see what kind of home insurance my mother has. she was the one who wanted to insure them before I thought about it in the first place.

I have too many to keep track of, so I really just don't. I just don't purchase back issues. My dad keeps track of his/our collection using small paperbacks of the small amounts of comics we need, he's the one that spends the most money on buying back issues.

How many do you have Jedi, approx.?

Um....approximately? Let's see, so at my place I've got about 40 long boxes, which hold about 275 each (supposed to be 300, I've found 275 is usually an average)....so I'd say a total of about 11K or so. Give or take a couple K.

I can't even estimate what my dad has, that'd be insane of me ^_^

Do you bag and board them? Am I the only one who averages 200 or so a long box? Maybe it is because I try and keep them a little empty so I can look through them without pulling a handful out.

250+ always seemed like alot to me for a long box.
