It looks like there's one more year left for Dark Horse to publish Star Wars titles, as Marvel has announced they will be publishing new Star Wars material starting in 2015.
I wonder if they'll relaunch current books under a Marvel banner, and bring in current Star Wars artists/writers or start from scratch with new titles and concepts.
We all knew it was going to happen, and it looks like it took about 2 years, am I right?

Brian Wood just announced via Twitter that his Star Wars book ends at issue 20, and he doesn't think Marvel will want him to write a Star Wars title because "Everyone and their mothers will want to write a Marvel Star Wars book." So that seems to mean at least one book won't continue on, or at least not as it is now.

I won't write off Star Wars completely when it moves to Marvel but it'll be sad to see it leave Darkhorse. Additionally, this is a huge loss for Darkhorse. SW was an important part of their monthly solicits.

Damn, I was really enjoying the new Star Wars Legacy by Gabriel Hardman. And Brian Wood's book too.

DH released a statement regarding the move of Star Wars to Marvel. They said they have other licensed properties in the works they want to make great, but whether they'll take off like Star Wars did for the company is still a question.
I definitely think it will hurt DH for now. They have a number of books they publish, but yeah Star Wars was a big part of their publishing imprint.

Presumably it was (/still currently is) there highest earning license?

I would like to think so. Besides that, they have Alien, Predator, Buffy, Firefly, and a few others, but I don't think any of those combined really compare to what they brought in with Star Wars.

They also have Indy Jones and plenty of video games stuff like Mass Effect.

DW will probably still do well for themselves without Star Wars.
I'm guessing the Buffy and Angel books do around the same numbers as the top Star Wars books, but presumably there's atleast 4 regular Star Wars books to Buffy's two?
Is it not most likely the case that the existing books will carry on (with the exception of Woods) as before, but under the Marvel logo and one or two new books will be introduced for good measure?

Hardman has already stated that Legacy is ending too.
I'm guessing Marvel might keep the name of the books but will relaunch them all with new creatives and a shiny #1.

Yeah, the entire license has transferred, meaning DH won't produce any Star Wars books at all after 2014.
I can't say the Whedon stuff equals the top Star Wars book. It's done well enough to get a third comic "season" but I don't know if the numbers are that high really.
And I wasn't aware that DH had Indiana Jones. But again, now that Disney has bought that out as well (if I recall correctly), won't that eventually shift back over to Marvel?
