Pope Resigns

Post by Mr Wallstreet »

Yes, the unthinkable has happened: Geoff Johns is leaving Green Lantern after 9 years. In related news, Edbert has been sobbing uncontrollably in since the news broke and has so far refused to calm down or stop wetting himself as a form of sullen rebellion.

And yes, Geoff Johns is considered the Pope of DC Comics. He even wears his version of a pope hat

I'm actually glad. I was looking to leave GL after this Wraith of the First Lantern story as it was, unless they did something really big that got me back into it. I've been iffy on it since the end of Brightest Day and to me putting Sinestro back as the GL, while cool, was only going to last so far. Mahnke's art has been the real sell on the book as I love what he does, but I wasn't enjoying much of it anymore. The Simon Baz story was fun, but again I knew it wouldn't last in that book. So it looks like this is my jumping off point for GL, and with that, DC in general.

I'm dropping Batman after this week, and then GL and GL: New Guardians after Wraith as I said. Those are the only DC books I even get anymore, so it seems I won't have anything keeping me there. New 52 officially did me in at DC. Too much I don't like, not enough of what I enjoyed. Not even the return of Wally West could get me back it seems.

ALL the GL related writers leave the titles. It's a fucking mass exodus! Going to be interesting to see what happens for issue 21 of all 4 books. I only collect GL and if it's a writer I don't like, I may end up finally dropping the book.

I wouldn't be surprised if they rotate some around, with the exception of Johns. You might see Bedard and Tomasi move around. Hell, I bet Tomasi gets the GL proper.

If Tomasi goes to adjectiveless, I'll continue buying it. Yet he's been working on the titles for a long time as well, he may want a rest as well. I haven't been a fan of Milligan on Red Lanterns so I'm fine with him going to other stuff.

Bob Harras and Howard Mackie will take the franchise over. With some help from Terry Kavanagh.

The thing is, with the state of DC right now and the way things have been going, I honestly can't tell if Arn is serious or joking.

That is the sad thing.

Just imagine Mackie taking over a GL title. Remember what he did to Spidey in the 90s?

Well, obviously, guys, Hal Jordan? He's been a clone of Sinestro all along! Everything you knew was wrong!
