Seriously, why haven't Marvel/DC/IDW tried to make any Hunger Games comics? Those would be badass!

ACTION COMICS #8
ANIMAL MAN #8
SWAMP THING #8
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #683
WOLVERINE AND X-MEN #8
BOYS #65

MAYBE
FAIREST #2 [haven't read first issue yet, will probably just start to Byrne-read instead]

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #683
WOLVERINE AND X-MEN #8

Don't forget, if you're getting Avengers Vs. X-Men #1, it actually gets released this week, though it was shipped last week.

Good small week will be nice.

My retailer is having a release party tomorrow night but I'll be at work and not sure if I'll be able to make it. I want to but as it's smack dab in the middle of the interviewer's shift, it's not really reasonable for me to go =o/

We're having one too, but I have an Academic Competition tomorrow so I can't go.

Also, we ordered 60 copies and they all went straight into our customer's pull files. NONE hit the shelves at all, and if you didn't either tell us you wanted it or prepay you weren't getting it. There may be about 1 or 2 copies for the release party that are up for grabs. At noon last Tuesday he tried to call Diamond to order more #1's, but they are already sold out, including sketch covers.

So basically, unless you've gotten yours taken care of already, if you want one you're going to need to get it this week. And probably as soon as possible. Our store sold out just filling in pull lists.

Yeah, the issues are selling like hotcakes according to Bleeding Cool reports. I know my retailer ordered more than usual because he loves getting variants (as many of us at the store are collectors, he knows he can easily sell them). If I can't make it there tomorrow I know I'll have a copy in my file (plus any variants). I may try to make it out there for the last 15 minutes of the thing, which is a shitty thing to do but at least I show up. He has no clue what he wants to do for it, trying to get opinions but only getting blank responses...

Haha! You're getting old!

Detective Comics #8
iZombie #24
Fatale #4
Wolverine and the X-Men #8

Skipping DareDevil 10.1 (screw you marvel) and also this is the week where DC implements their price increase. Tec is now $3.99 and I think so is regular Batman as well as one or two others

They're increasing Tec and Batman but including backup stories. Sort of like what they're doing with Action and Justice League.

I find the backup stories pointless. They dont interest or engage me. I've tried reading them but they're just really bad and/or dont interest me and I'm not just talking about DC but Marvel as well. A typical story of 22 pages already reads fairly quicky. Cutting that down by a third just makes getting the piecemeal parts so much more frustrating.

Some are good, such as the new Justice League about Shazam which was a fantastic take. But the ones in Action Comics haven't been that great and I did not like the Tec story.

I wasn't able to go either. I wanted to, and likely could have, but would have felt uber guilty leaving my worthless coworker alone for around an hour or so. I was tempted to take a half day at work but we got busy.

And now I feel guilty about not going. I called my retailer to let him know I wouldn't be able to make it and he was glad I let him know because he was staying open waiting only for me. Evidently he only told 5 people about it and the other 4 had already shown up. If I hadn't called, he likely would have stayed open for another hour waiting for me x_x I feel really bad about it, but I did tell him I'd try but may not due to work. Luckily he said he'd put the variants he got in my file for me.

Ok, please don't take this bad but why didn't your store order more than just the pre-orders? It sounds stupid. This is gonna be the biggest book of the year and you don't plan for extra copies? If you order only for the customer who wants it, of course it will sell out.
Or maybe I'm just bad at that selling trade and there wasn't a possibility for him to order more?

This book will not be hard to find. It may sell out this week, but I doubt it. Too many stores ordering huge numbers.
It's a huge Marvel event book, it will have a massive print run, and will be in dollar bins by summer.

Marvel will also have pretty much printed to order (which is still 6 figures), so they can announce second printings with variants!

One local store got 300 copies, another 250, another 125. That is 3 of 8 stores.

There is no way 800+ people in Calgary are going to be buying and keeping this book.

We did order well above our usual numbers. In fact we ordered almost double what we typically do and it still sold out. We have a fairly small customer base so ordering double the usual amount was probably a safe bet. But it was a book that people waited until the last minute to let him know that they wanted it so he had to kind of scramble the day it came in to give it to the people who told him first. With it ring con season also tho, they've already started popping up at shows. 0 was at the show I was at last week for below cover price and I'm sure 1 will be as well this week.

I disagree with you there; I didn't much care for how they rebooted Billy Batson into an unlikeable prick. I get that they wanted to put a new spin on the 60 year old story of Billy being a kid with a heart of gold despite getting shat on at every turn, but making him into an asshole just seemd a little too easy. However, I am open to seeing how this goes and if it turns out.
