Basement X

So, kind of like book of the week, but not just for new comics.

Any books you might come across that you surprisingly enjoy, that haven't had a lot of press but think are worth passing on.
Whether they be old, new, trades or what, share them with us to take a look, just to spread the word. They probably won't be the greatest reads ever, since if they were, we'd know about them by now, but have at it anyway.

I shall go with:
Night of the Living Dead, Avatar, by Mike Wolfer. 2 issues are out so far.
A prequel of sorts to the 1968 zombie class, I was pleasantly surpised by how much I enjoyed this, even though zombies are getting done to death.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand, DDP, 4 issues mini, completed
Anyone who has seen (and liked) the show, should read these 4 comics. They are prequel stories to some of the characters, and they are great.

Justice LEague International - One of only 2 DC books i am currently reading. And the other one is on the chopping block.

And it's a lot of fun, I really enjoyed it, which doesn't really happen for all ages books.

I would recommend the "Best of Chuck Austen" which contains his brilliant run on Uncanny X-Men

Nope.

According to Wikipedia:
"...Austen wrote and drew the semi-autobiographical black-and-white pornographic comic book series Strips, as well as Hardball."
Strips was actually a lot of fun, very well written for Austen. I haven't read Hardball (not even sure if it's been scanned).

OK, I mistook it for another book. Can't remember what it was. A kind of JLA parody. Worldwatch, or something like that.

Yep, that was Worldwatch. In fact, I think that was his last comic book he did. The 2nd issue had a joke saying that Austen got fired off the book and Sam Clemens was taking over (since it's creator owned he couldn't get kicked off, not many people got the joke). Thinking back it reminds me of The Boys now. I wonder why Austen never finished Worldwatch, it was supposed to be 7 issues and he got 3 out before he quit. I know he went on to Manga and failed at that...

It really was quite enjoyable. I'm thinking of picking up the second issue and possibly finishing the first run.

I should have bought it when he was signing at MCM Expo, but didn't! Poopies.

I have the second issue, it's great too.

I also really like the fact that now when parents ask me about comics for their kids, I actually have one I can safely say they can try.
