CCEE Report!
Thursday was set-up day.
I picked up the guys I work for from the Airport, and we came straight down to unload. I met the Citadels Comics guy, including ThirdGreenHam, and introduced myself. The guys I worked for ended up buying a stack of books off them, and included an ASM 39 for me in the purchase. The only book I got this year for myself. They had a fantastic booth, great stuff at great prices. Next year I am going to have to buy more off them, or possibly at the Red and White Show this year.
I took a walk around the convention hall, and it was no bigger than last year which surprised me. Although, 2 halls which used to me media stuff and autographing/photo ops, had been almost entirely changed to autographs. It was not until later I found out photo ops, table top gaming, and video games had been moved into a separate building, which alone is the size of some conventions I have been to. There was also a 5000 person panel room, for the like of Nathan Fillion and Gillian Anderson to fill up.
We also went to Loungeburger for dinner, which is a great choice for anyone attending the con, as it is a less than 5 minute walk from the Convention Centre.
Friday I came down and finished setting up, and did some purchasing from Zenescope for a friend, included the CCEE bull riding variant, which I felt odd buying. I also got an Elfquest sketch for a friend.
First thing when the show opened I got the Finch sketch I posted earlier ($60 headshot, $120 bust, $240 torso if anyone wants to know for the future), to get it out of the way. I was first in line, and by the time he was done with my sketch at 12:45 or so, the line-up was probably 30 people deep. He was insanely busy the whole show. I also got some personal books signed by Adam Hughes, Paul Jenkins and Erik Larsen. All great people, Paul Jenkins especially. I also had the chance to meet and speak with Gillian Anderson briefly, which seemed like a wonderful guest and very nice woman.
The show itself Friday was dead, they probably could have sold another 1000 Friday passes to fill the hall. The majority of people were in the media hall, leaving the show floor very open.
Saturday I worked most of the day, despite the show never feeling full which was a surprise. I had the chance to get away at the end of the day and do a photo op with Richard Dean Anderson. On the way I stopped by Erik Larsen’s table to see if he had room for more sketches, I was surprised to find out he had none to do, and would have mine done by the end of the day. It was $200 for an 11x17 which I found to be reasonable, with $100 for an addition al character. I was also the last person in line for the RDA photo op so I got to stay and chat with him for a bit, which was nice. I was a huge SG-1 fan.
Sunday the show was packed, it felt busier than Friday and Saturday combined. Unfortuantly I figured this would be slower and booked a photo op with my girlfriend for the Walking Dead. It was a bad choice.
Sunday morning I got a CGC SS Dinklage book done for a boardie, which he can post the picture of if he likes. Peter was there a little after 9, almost an hour before the show opened which I was impressed with. I was able to get the book done no problem. He was an extremely nice guy, and very receptive to requests.
I also had The Shadow Sketch cover done by Adam Hughes. Despite not sketching at shows, he was doing $20 head sketches on cards. I asked him if he would do it on a blank cover, and use a red sharpie for the scarf, and he was more than happy to oblige. Very nice guy.
I think the media guests took away from business on the show floor, as everyone was spending a lot of money and on autographs and photo ops (more so), but overall it seemed like a great show.
The fact photo ops were done in a separate building almost removed a ton of people from the main building.
It was by far the best organized show I have ever been to, which is astounding considering the complete mess it was last year.

Very cool sketches and sounds like you had a fun time! I too had to look for awhile until I realized who the girl was haha although I just assumed it was her so I'm glad I was right.
And I had no clue who the guy you took pictures with was until you mentioned SG1. I never watched much of it but finally recognized him, and I must agree with everyone else, really out of shape.
