MCM Expo - London Comic Con

Post by Stocky Boy »

Sooooo. The week after the Kapow con, there was the MCM Expo, which typically has itself a big artist alley, but it's mainly all indie and odd shit.

I did get a hulk sketch with my face on it from one indie dude, but more importantly I got about three copies of Crisis signed by Marv Wolfman. I could have bought most of the books in this comic bin (first time there's been a comic retailer at the MCM, can you believe it?) but settled for the Superman and Supergirl one. The Barry Allen one and an Anti-Monitor one. I turn up with 20 minutes to play with before Wolfman's signing is up. I had no idea what time he'd be on, because MCM is shit at telling you signing times. But, lucky old me finds himself a comic retailer and buys him some key Crisis issues in not bad condition and strolls up to Wolfman (who has no fucking queue!) and gets them signed.

Not bad. Not bad.

Not bad at all for what sounds like a small usually under performing con. Will Perez be around you anytime soon to get him to sign them as well?

I don't know dude. But, in a fun kind of way, it's nice that I now feel I need to get Perez's signature.

It's also kind of nice to have a series I need to complete. The other day, I realised that I've completed getting all the odd issues I was missing since the last time I checked. It left a hollow feeling inside Edbert. A hollow feeling. It was realised within my mind that I had now no further reason to browse the comic boxes.

Always keep one series as a back burner so you have something to root around for. That's why I try to do one at a time so there's always something else to look for.

I was so upset to learn that Perez was a guest at C2E2 AFTER I got up there and had nothing for him to sign. He was like a surprise announcement on Friday. My buddy saw his table completely empty and he was doing sketches for $20, so he got a very nice Perez head sketch at a great price. The next day his line was about 200 people long the minute the con floor opened because he wasn't a surprise anymore.
